Almost Retired

Just wanted to say Howdy from Texas. My wife and I are about 18 months from retirement and have narrowed our search for full time 5th wheel to Montana and Cedar Creek. We've fallen inlove with the 3580RL and 3400RL. Looks like we are about 12-18 months away from retiring and making our final decision on RV and tow vehicle. I welcome any advice from seasoned travelers and Montana owners.

Welcome to the forum. I retired this pass December, but the DW is still working. We purchased out 3400RL in Febuary of this year, and love it. However, our trips are short and close to home due to her work. She has about 18 months before she retires, and we can't wait to heit the road for some long trips. Which ever floor plan you decide on, I'm sure you love it.....Joe

Welcome to MOC. We have the 3400L and love it. We're fulltimers since a year ago and are very comfortable in our Montana. Our Dodge 2500 diesel pulls it very easily back and forth from Wisconsin to Florida. Best of luck on your decision!

I know I will take a little flack from this but its JMO. If you haven't got the truck yet and are interested in the 3400RL I would suggest a one ton diesel. I like the dually mainly for the safety factor of a tire blow out, at least you have a tire holding up that weight while pulling over. And I like the power of the diesel to pull all that weight. Again this is JMO. Others have said its not necessary and they are very correct. Just look at the GVW on the truck and don't listen to the salesperson as far as this is concerned. Most don't even know, but they act like they do for the sale.

The 3400RL is one beautiful unit, and you will be very happy with that choice. As others have said, no matter the brand they all have issues of some kind. But Keystone isn't #1 seller for no reason at all!!

I highly recommend a Diesel Dually. Diesel Power magazine compares the Dodge/Ford/ Chevy 2011s.
