Angry Sattelite hookup issues

Seeking help to figure my issue(s) out. I have a 2019 3791RD and cannot for the life of me watch satellite through the conventional hook-up where the water supply side is located. I have a portable Dish system (Tailgater) with a Wally receiver. I have to wire the satellite through the living room window directly to the Wally receiver and HDMI from the Wally to the TV. That works fine but I don't want to remove the screen and keep the window open. When I hook it up to the Satellite input and then from the satellite jack in the living room to the Wally it does not work.

Jeff - Concur with Fireguy, but I too have a 3791 and had to try both Satellite connections in the convenience center to determine which was wired to the living room TV. I assume that you've tried both connections already?

Appears a bad connector or misrouting of the coax wiring internal to the rig. If you still have an amplified antenna, that needs to be turned off. Not sure what you call it, but there is a flat coax connector I used to use, that was about 5 inches long and would go under the screen with two connections, between coax from the antenna and coax to the tv which would solve your screen issue. Purchased off Amazon.

Thanks for the info. There is a power indication same as my Everest used to have, but unlike the Everest there is no way to turn it off.

Don't ask me why but on our 3790RD I had to shut off the amplifier on the TV antenna in order for the Satellite system to work. It is behind the TV in the bedroom, little green light is on when it is turned on.

Awesome!!!! I will look this afternoon when I head down to the campground after work. I figured there had to be a power switch somewhere but why in the hell would one hide the damn thing.

Hope that is the ticket! Again Thank you for the easiest thing to check first

On all Montanas you must should the OTA signal booster off when you use a satellite system.

I had issues trying to run two receivers off of a manual dish. The connections in the convenience center go through a splitter and the signals from the two receivers confused each other. So my fix was to use a tool ($20.00 at Lowes) to identify the actual cable from the rear den TV and disconnected it from the splitter and connected it directly to the bottom Satellite connection in the convenience center and then I ran two cables from the dish and connected one to the bottom (den TV) connection and the other to the middle connection (also Satellite that still goes through the splitter). I move the receiver from the bedroom tv to the outside tv if I want to watch the tv outside. No issues at all as long as dish can see the satellites.

Good Luck!

I've never had to turn off my antenna amplifier to use my satellite on my 2019 384br. I had to on the trailers I had before.

I have a winegard pathwayx2, got mad at it and installed a stationary dish on a tripod where I'm staying for work. Still wasn't working well enough. I opened up the basement and took the bedroom tv completely off the splitter, and wired it direct. I then moved the living room tv to the other side of the splitter. Everything has worked well since.

The supplied splitters are junk. I bought 2 new ones in anticipation of having to change this one out and have a spare, but haven't had to yet.

Neither have I. In my case (pre keytv) the satellite cabling is not connected to the shared cable and OTA signals.

We had our satellite installed on top of our 2019 3791RD. We put a 2nd one on there too for the bedroom wally.

The new Montana Legacy package includes a device named KEY TV. That solves the problem you are describing when you use the Tailgator. I called the TG manufacturer and was told that the TG signal was too weak to pass through an RV wiring system. I now have KEY TV and ... problem solved.

Add a new direct port

I gave up on the “factory” connections in my 2018 3721RL. I think it has to do with the duplexer Montana uses to share bandwidth. I installed a new coax port directly behind the LR wall. Works great now that it is a direct connection to the back of the Wally receiver. Easy to connect/disconnect wether I place the dish antenna near the back of the coach or on the roof.

Do you have a model new enough to have the Key TV panel in the convenience compartment?

If not make sure you can identify the cable connector that says Living Room Satellite and the other end in the TV area. Mine was mislabeled at the TV.

Also those portable Satellite antennas like the Tailgater can only drive 50' of cable. So use as short a cable as possible outside since you have a lot of cable inside.

Test by using a 10' cable and set the tailgater on the roof or ground near the convenience center.
