Need help with gel coat...
Hi all. While getting our Montana into a state camp ground site I had a tree branch drag down the side of our rig. It left a mark, which I have managed to remove with a rubbing compound, but I think the gel coat has been removed in the process. What do you recommend I can put on and then buff up to make this go away? (Only our 2nd time out in the rig, very pissed I damaged it already...). Thanks in advance...

You didn't remove the gel coat, if you did there would be a bigger mess, (like a deep gouge).
A more aggressive compound and a buffer may be the answer but use caution.

If your rubbing compound removed the scratch but leaves it dull looking, follow up with a polishing compound which has less abrasive and the shine should return.

Thanks for the advice - sounds like what I need to do - do you have a polishing compound you would recommend?

I prefer Meguiars but most any will do the job. Good luck.

Hi all - thanks for the help on this. The Meguiars 67 has helped a lot - most of the marks are not gone. I have a few scratches that have actually dug into the material, so I will need to take some of that 2000 grit paper to get them out. For now though it looks much better.
Thanks!
