Black tank sensors

Has anyone tried CARAVAN SENSOR CLEANER to clean black and grey tanks? What were the results?

Even if this cleaner, which has great revues, does what it is supposed to do, which is make the crudded up sensors work again, how long did the sensors go before they were not working after you purchased the rig? I would expect that they will eventually stop working fairly quick. Our sensors stopped working real quick after we started using our rig when new, all except the fresh water tank, which still to this day works perfectly. We generally can go about a week before the black tank starts burping in the toilet, which is the time to drain the black tank. The grey and galley tanks I usually drain them every couple of days. If I don't, we will be standing in water in the shower for the grey tank, and the kitchen sink will not drain properly if the galley tank has not been drained frequently enough.

The real question is why do manufacturers bother to install black sensors?

Actually, if they installed outside sensors folks would be happy, but the rig would cost more. Got excited and put them on our old rig and they worked great until we traded it. The problem was that I had already developed a schedule that worked for us, so even though I now had working senors, I never looked at them. In the end they were a total waste of money.

I never look at the sensors. The black tank gets emptied every 5 days. The he gray depends on how much my wife washes clothes.

I have a 2018 Montana 5th wheel, this is the 4th trailer I have had in the last few years. Of course the Sensors on the tanks failed in 2 weeks..
I replace them with GARNET SENSORS.. These sensors go on the outside of the tank. they show the tank level in digital numbers..like 20% 30% .
the hard part is getting to the tanks, my Montana has liner under the
tanks. these are really easy to install, the Garnet senors are strips
of a fiberglass material 12 inch high and about 2 inch wide. they have a 3 M adhesive on the back and they will not fall off once installed.
I put my new Garnet monitor inside my past thru bay .
they only have to wires so its easy to set up.
If you get one get the blue tooth unit.
this is get for you can check you tank level on your I phone any where with in 50 feet
of the trailer. or you can check the monitor in the past thru. You can leave you old sensors on..
the reason I put the Garnet monitor in past thru is I didn't to put it in the panel box in the trailer. I use the blue tooth on my I phone to check the
tank level when I am in the Trailer and use the monitor in the past thru
when I am filing or empty the tanks.
The Garnet Sensors unit between $200 and $350 .
Garnet is Sold in Texas and made in Canada.
I have tried just about every Sensors out there in the last few years
and this is the only one that work all the time, I have had it a year.
You can cut the Sensor to fit you tank size. I set my where when its empty
it start out at 5 % that way when the Garnet monitor Says it at 100 %
I am really only at 95 %. Nice... never have to worry about tank
overflow. also don't to wonder if I empty the tank a day ago or 4 days a go. also it has a alarm on you an hook up to let you know when its time to empty.
I never write reviews, but this one is the real deal.

Tried it. didnt work. Got my mony refunded. Tried several other methods on these forums, none of them worked either. Repeat "rohrmann" post above

You really think your sensors work:-)


Unless you install outside sensors your best bet is to use common sense. How many people? how many showers/how long? Using paper plates? Etc.

The only sensors I've found that work more then a few days are the Garnet SeeLevel's. If you NEED to know the level of the black tank. They are a PITA to install, but work. I installed them on the last 5er but with the galley and fresh tanks so difficult to access, decided that I would try these - Horst (now Valterra) Miracle Probe Sensors since I had to pull the front belly cover for a minor leak. Oh well, better then the originals but not by more then a few weeks. I back flush the tank about every other dump and then they work for a few more days.
