Plumbing question
We have a 3402rl but I am sure plumbing is simular in others. Under our bedroom sink I have 4 lines coming up. 2 red 2 blue. 1 red and 1 blue are tied into a small black "box". The other 2 are for the taps. My question is what is the black box for? Occasionally I get a drip of water coming out of it. Thanks

That's your back flow preventer for your sewer flush line. It's a frequent source of trouble, but be glad it's in a location you can get to easily.

Many of us have removed that valve either before or after it failed and use an external backflow preventer.

Looks something like this?
Should only leak when you use the black tank flush. But when they do leak, they can quickly flood the floor. If it is starting to drip I would replace it or eliminate it before using the black tank flush again. As stated above, many of us have removed it, plumbed the two lines together, and added an external backflow preventer valve.
And be glad it is under the sink. Mine was inside a wall.

It looks exactly like that and you are right, we noticed the leak just after I dumped and flushed tank. At the campsite we are in the water pressure seems quite high. Do you think higher pressure could increase chance of water coming through box?
Thanks tp everyone that replied.

To your question of higher pressure, yes.

I was told by my local RV place that Keystone is the only company that uses them. I eliminated it and use an external one.

Most of us use something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Homewerks-VAC-...flow+preventer
The purpose is to keep water from the black tank from flowing or being siphoned back into your water hoses and drinking water system. There are a number of ways this could happen, mostly as a result of a mistake or a severe drop in water pressure. Is it likely to happen, probably not, has it happened, yes both with RV's and restaurants.

Mine leaked last week. I took it out and replaced it with a one way inline valve for $22. The original one was $77. The guy that owns our camper store said they are required by federal law in all campers with a black tank spray cleaner.
