Changing TVs

How do we get the old TV out of the space above the fireplace. We have an 05 Montana. We want to replace the old tv but don't know how to get it out of the space. Has anyone done this? If so could you please pass on the information as to how you did it.

Look for a couple of screws that were driven into the TV to hold it in place.

Bob and Carol--Our 2004 unit had a screw that came into the teli from the side through the wall next to the steps going to the bedroom and with a wooden plug over it and also one that came up from the bottom of the shelf that holds the teli. The one from the bottom was the hardest to find and get out but once it's out the TV moves out with out a problem. If you still have the original TV be ready for some weigh when you pull it out. Those things are killers in the way of dropping when you get the unit out. You would not believe how heavy that TV is compared to an LED that I put back in! It also takes up about three to four time the depth a new LED does when you put it back in. Leaves all kinds of storage behind it! Let us know if you find the screws and if you get the old one out!

we have a 2005 and the tv was held in with 4 screws. we took the fireplace frame off to get the bottoms ones out and i believe the top one were inside the top cabinet. But we are glad to be rid of the big old TV!

be careful, that sucker is HEAVY! On our 3400 (2007) we had to remove the fireplace fascia and the outer speakers (above the fireplace) to get to the screws.

My 07 3295RK had one screw from the center speaker above the TV and one from where the fireplace is up from the bottom. Yes be careful it is heavy.

I think they used them TV's to dispose of depleted uranium cause I have never lifted a TV that heavy.

Bob don't know what model you have but on my 3650RK the tv is on a slideout tray and when I changed them they were screwed up though the bottom with like 2" screws don't know how they do that without hitting anything important! They are very heavy glad to get rid of both.

Yep on the two screws under, on my old 2004 Big Sky it was easy except for taking it out I ALMOST BLEW A TUBE ! dang that thing was heavy replaced with a 32" in lcd but had to buy a 150.00 Mor-ryde mount from Tweety,s because the new LCD would not fit in the 27" hole but glad we did it!,only bummer was we sold the Big sky 6 months later

Let's see if I can tell the story without pictures. I have an 05-3475RL. You first have to take the screw out of the top-middle speaker above the TV so you can pull that speaker out. To get to this, there is a screw cover cap located behind the cabinet doors above that speaker. Once you get that screw out, pull the speaker out and you will see the screw that goes from the bottom of that speaker opening down through the top of the TV. There are also two bottom screws that are behind the frame board below the TV and the only way to reach those screws is to take the fireplace out. You will need a square screwdriver bit. Phew! Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone. We haven't started yet but appreciate the hints for removing the tv. We will be extra careful if it is so heavy. Bob will need to get a helper I think someone besides me.
