What motivates you in the Spring?

Here in Ohio, it's mushroom hunting time! It's a tradition that's steeped over many years in our family and continues to thrive with my two sons and their families. After a short trip to the woods plenty of grey sponge mushrooms were found for a hearty appetite!

Tonight we had oven baked nachos and cheese with fresh found cut-up mushrooms sprinkled on top.....later this week for breakfast, a fresh sponge mushroom omelet. And then to top off the week, fresh mushroom and hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes!

There isn't anything better to get yourself moving and back to nature in the (wet) Spring here in Ohio! Well okay, other than chasing down some wild turkeys!

I wouldn't know a good mushroom from a bad mushroom, but then again I don't even like mushrooms so I don't have to worry about it. DW believes mushrooms grow in blue styrofoam boxes that are then shrink wrapped when prepared for sale.

My spring motivation is preparing for backpack season!!! That's what I like doing in Spring. This year it's the Rae Lakes Loop in King's Canyon National Park in late July. About 50 miles backpacking and a few miles of hiking when I'm done. No trailers, no satellite dishes to aim, just a minimal of stuff to carry on my back.

My Spring motivation is the arrival of Spring (if it ever gets here on the Eastern side of the country). Camping and boating season!! We have yet to put anything in the river since we are averaging 5 to 6 days of rain a week. I think someone moved the Pacific Northwest to West Virginia. We camped last week for nine days and had one un-rainy day out of the nine. Rain is again forecasted for the rest of this week except for Thursday!! But I am still motivated!!!
