RED RIVER RANCH RV PARK OK

Can anyone give me any information on Red River Ranch RV park off of 35 highway near the Texas /Oklahoma bourder. Or Braunig Lake RV Resort off highway 37 south of San Antonio, there my two stops on my way to RGV. I am tired of doing 525 EACH DAY. I am getting older now and don't need to kill myself with those long days anymore. This will work out not quite 400 a day. I appreciate anyone's imput on these two parks or any suggestions on this route. thank you John

We drove by the Red River Ranch place on our way south. No TV and $20 a night. We went across I-35 and stayed for free in the casino parking lot. No hookups but they didin't care how long we stayed and they have 24 hour security riding around on bicyles. We felt very safe there and there were plenty of nickle slot machines inside to keep us big spenders entertained.

Our next stop was Braunig Lake RV Park where we spent a week ($165 FHU). Easy access. Not very crowded when we were there (Thanksgiving). Very enjoyable. 10 minutes to downtown San Antonio. Riverwalk and Alamo are very interesting and free.

Just a suggestion. I eliminated a lot of traffic between Austin and San Antonio by getting off I-35 at San Marcos and running Hwy 123 south to Sequin, jumping onto I-10 west to I-410 south to I-37 south to Braunig Lake exit.

We stayed at Red River Ranch last year and it is a Passport America... so $10 a night. It is a pretty good park. We only had water & elctric though. It was only for the night so wasn't so bad. It had decent pull throughs and we didn't have to unhook.

We stayed in that park last Winter while I worked out of Gainesville TX. Very nice place and very nice people. There are a couple of things to warn you about though. I see you have a dog and they have sand burrs big time. If you let your dog out good chance that he/she will come in covered in them. Or they will stop dead in their tracks waiting for you to come rescue them because they got one in the bottom of thier foot. Then the ones that stick to the bottom of your feet and clothes from the dog get in your carpet and the surprise of planting one of those babies in the bottom of your foot will cause rapid deployment to the moon. The other thing is the RR runs just west of the park and the trains run heavy at night. So you will be either lulled to sleep or awake all night. If you have duel pane windows it shouldn't be to bad but you will hear it for sure if not used to it. Pat the desk manager is a great lady very nice to deal with as is everyone else there. One thing about Passport America make sure you make reservations early and get there early. They tend to fill those spots very fast. If you can get sewer I would do it and take your showers in your rig. The shower house is older and since it is Winter very chilly when you take your shower there. Other than those few things it is a very nice place close to the casino. Oh another thing if you head out to go south take a left and head down the old state highway South to the interstate. (3 miles and rough road) Go under the interstate and fill at Thackerville travel stop. Need to take your credit card into them to activate the pumps. (to many drive offs) But this will be the cheapest Fuel you will see for a while. TX must have more taxes than OK because they are always .10-.15 cheaper than TX desiel. 2.21 an gallon yesterday and if you have smokers in the family stock up on all that cause it is 25% cheaper than TX to boot. Thank you Tom and Gina, I don't need to sand burr's or should say Daisy May don't need them. I appreciate the caution there. I will walk her on the gravel or pavement. Sounds OK for just over night heck might even head to the casino and spend some nickles, most Casino's have a decent buffet, might as well get my diet started ha ha

Yet another option is Lake Murray State Park. They are open all year and it is 20 or 25 bucks a night(I think). They have full hookups, drive through pads and it is never too crowded. They are just a couple miles south of Ardmore, Oklahoma and worth the 3 mile drive east of the interstate.

Hey Okie Guy - I appreciate the Option, I am so ready to go further south BUT I JUST FOUND OUT that it has been just as cool as KANSAS???????? Cloudy and Raining. Now is this what Paradise is suppose to be????????????????
OK, I need a tailwind, that means cold wind. and if anyone is listening, upon arrival I would like 72 degree's a light breeze of maybe 3-5 mph and someone bringing me a cold one that DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF CALORIES.. NOW THAT IS HEAVEN. Anyone have a switch for that????? John
