Straight Talk

Does anybody have Wal-Mart's Straight Talk for a smart phone? The price is great with full unlimited service on Verizon's network except for web service which is throttled after 2.5 gigs. What do you think of the service?

Is there any guarantee that they will stay with Verizon?

2.5 gig is not much for me anyway and I just surf the web and watch a few YOU TUBE vids and I have 5.0 gig on my verizon jetpack hotspot and it goes QUICK and I'm with 8.1al they would have to stay with Verizon or I would be Out

Check out PagePlus Cellular. It is pre-paid that uses Verizon's 3G network. We have been on it for a year and save over $900 per year from our old AT&T. Just a thought.

We use 15-17 gigs a month and don't down load movies. We couldn't make it on 2.5 per phone.

Thanks gentlemen. The Verizon service is $75 per month this service as low as about $42 depending on how you pay. With the savings I can almost pay for an I-phone 5 every year. 2.5 gigs of service is more than I can use. We have a Verizon Mifi and use less than 5 gigs. Dick I don't know how you would use that much service. If I don't like this service I can and will get another Verizon plan. To me no big deal.
If I don't like it or if I do like it I will let you, or as we say down here let y'all know so you don't make the same mistake. I think I will be the Guinea pig.

I also use Straightalk and prior to this I was using Virgin Mobile. The 2.5 gig is more than I have ever used on a smart phone and generally do not use that much when I am traveling and using an air card or at home using DSL. Unless you do a lot of videos, pictures or music it should be enough. Do be aware though, that the pay as you go plans do not allow tethering so to use your laptop or tablet you will need alternatives like air card or campground wifi.

I would think to get by on 2.5gb a month you sure would be limited. We each have a I-Phone 4S, a laptop, and one I-pad. We never download video or music. I check weather radar several times a day and the DW is on Facebook for an hour or so per day, but not much else. We average about 6gb per month.
