New Truck

My new truck was finally shipped to the dealer and I picked it up Tuesday. I took it to Ziebart to get rust proofed and window tint and it goes to hitch shop Friday for hitch install. Now I have to figure out how all this stuff works. Drives great! I will find out in a few days how it pulls as we head south. When I look in the mirrors and see those big fenders sticking out, I have to admit it is a little scary!
Don

Don...those fenders won't bother you for very long...after a while you will not even see them back there....but that is when the problems start....congrats on your new truck...you will love pulling with a dually. Good luck and have fun.

Congrats on the new truck. The duallys do make for a much smoother towing experience. The width of the truck only comes into play when you're not towing...stay away from fast food drive thrus!!

Congrats on the new truck. I'm waiting for mine right now, should be in in about three weeks. Does Dodge recommend a break-in period before towing? I know on mine they say 1000 mile break-in and at least 500 before towing.

Congrats on the new truck. I find backing into parking spots is a lot easier with the dually then trying to pull in and then back out.

The dually tire will find a curb a few times until you get use to it.

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving.

Ditto the comments from everyone else. Remember when you park out in the North Forty and come out of the store to find cars parked on both sides, pull straight out for a ways before starting your turn. I almost lost a fender the first time I drove the Dually to work. Started to pull out like I usually did with the MonteCarlo, then glanced in the mirror and saw the rear fender was headed towards the front fender of the car next to me. Safe travels and enjoy being a Dually Driver

Congratulations on the new truck! Some of those extras seem like extras now, but wait till you get used to them. I thought the bluetooth thing was a little much until the first night when we brought the Monty home and I had to back it three blocks in the dark down a narrow gravel road and then snake it into it's spot. Called Joyce on her phone from the dashboard and she talked me through where the back end was and we made it first try. The remote start is another thing I've come to appreciate now that winter is here. Frost all over the truck. Push the button, finish dressing, go out and the defroster, heated seat and heated steering wheel are all on on their own. Life is good in a new Dodge, you'll love it!

Sounds like you're gonna have a fun time with your new truck.

We like our dually and find that when parking, in the North Forty, we take two spots and angle the front tire on one side in between the concrete park-stops so that we fit. Also, get those mirrors adjusted - if you can see, you can pretty much go anywhere. And, our indicator is that if the side mirrors, when extended, won't go through the bank aisle, then the tubs won't either!

Don, I went from a SRW to a dually and do not regret it. You will get use to the length.

Congratulations on the new truck! Have you driven it enough to get the feel for it and how do you like it now? As mentioned the fenders won’t bother you after a while, I even go through some of the drive thrus with it. I estimate that if my mirrors clear then the fenders will clear. I just proceed with extreme caution and so far that has not been a problem. I do often take up more than one space when possible. I’ve found that if you park in a single space that sometimes if other vehicles park all around you there will not be enough room to swing out into the lane of traffic. For some reason the people who design the parking lots didn’t appear to consider long wheel bases or larger trucks at most places I visit. I would rather park away from the main parking area anyway to avoid the “courtesy dents” (as I call it) from careless people.

Oh, on another note I had the spray-in bed liner put in ours and I really love it.
