That is a very vague question. Do you want full power available to run air conditioners, etc.? Or just to plug up to charge batteries. I use a 30 amp shore power cord with a 30 to 15 amp adapter plug to plug into an outside outlet. This enabled the fridge to run, batteries to charge, but would not run the air conditioners. If you need 30 amp or 50 amp power, that would require an in-depth knowledge of house electricity since it would likely require a dedicated circuit with a run from the house breaker panel. In most communities, it may even require a permit and a certified electrician to install it. Clarify your needs and there are plenty of qualified people in the MOC (Jim Fischer comes to mind first) that can guide you on the proper route.

We have a dedicated circuit run to the outside wall of my shop that has an electrical post like the COE uses with 20,30 & 50amp outlets available. I wired it myself, but had to have it inspected and had to pull a permit.

I ran 8/4 wire from my main breaker box overhead in my garage down the wall to a 50 amp RV receptacle box on the side of my house.

I would like full 50 amp service. Main thing is what kind of breaker do you use to get 50 amp on 110 volts.

We store our Monty in a farm shop with full 50 Amp, Water and Septic hookups inside the building. For guests at the stick house we had an electrician put in a new 50 Amp circuit to a metal weather sheltered receptical on the backside of the house. The stick house is out in the country side and we put in a septic hookup between the house and septic tank and have a water faucet on that end of the house for RV use. I recommend using professionals that will follow codes.

36 truck ... I assume you have 220 power to your house. A double 50 amp breaker will provide 110 off each hot leg from your main breaker box which will feed your 50 amp receptacle. If it is a shed with only 110 going to it, you're pretty much stuck with maybe 30 amp power. There are several more qualified "sparkies" on the MOC that can explain it better.

Where do you intend to pull the power from? As Dieselguy said, if you run the power from your house circuit breaker panel, you can get a 240 volt (two hot legs), 50 amp circuit. If you only want 30 amp power, it would be 120 volt, 30 amp (only one hot leg) power. It would be wise to have a licensed electrician assist you in the installation. Electricity can kill or you can cause thousands of dollars of damage to your rig if done improperly. As the mythbusters always say, "Don't try this at home", the operative word being "try". Electricity is nothing to guess at.

I keep my RV at a friends and only have 110 for the frig and battery charger. But that is much better than sitting on a storage lot with nothing.

We had a 30A RV before we purchased 5er. So our ser is 30A. We had a tech. come and check our ser to be sure it would not give us trouble with our new unit. Still we are careful to run only one A/C when we need it, as when we are preparing to leave or whn we have two of our sons families come home. We find tha after cool down period, to cool furnishings, walls, interior that 1 is sufficient to maintain cool. We usually start A/C 24 hrs. before we use unit. In Extremely hot weather we use our Gen. to keep unit cool as we travel. Yet as we have 2 A/Cs we can cool it down in about 2 hrs when we arrive at CG if we have 50A. Yes there are a lot of "ifs". We also have an adapter with a 30A and a 20A male ends as most pedestals have those services. We also have a 30A to 20A adapter in case we find a place with 2 30A services avail. I think the challenges of RVing are part of the lifestyle that we all enjoy. If we were starting fresh, I certainly would have a 50A ser installed. Larry

When we moved into our house 36 years ago, I removed the 100 amp fuse panel and installed a 200 amp service. Besides adding outlets in the kitchen and garage, I ran a 50 amp 220v sub-service to the garage for my welder and air compressor. Later, when we got the Monty, I ran a feed from the welder box to the other side of the garage and mounted a 50 amp plug on the outside wall for the trailer. So the short answer is yes, but do not try this if you are not experienced in working with electricity! It's not rocket science, but it's also not worth burning down your house or getting electrocuted.

We have a dedicated 30 amp service. It works and serves us well but I would like to up-grade it to a 50 amp service.

We have a 30amp here at the house. I installed it before we had the Monty. Our previous SOB was 30amp service. We have found it to be enough for here at the house. The trailer is not stored here. 30amp is enough to run 1 A/C and the fridge and charger. Nobody ever stays in the trailer here at the house. 50amp would be nice to have both A/Cs running in the summer for load/unload but typically we can load/unload fast enough it is not a issue.
