Bubble Levels

I would be interested in seeing how the level is mounted on the PIN BOX, if anyone has any pictures....

I also have one mounted on inside of the basement door so when it opens it showes side to side, plus one the floor joists (ceiling of basement) near my leveling switch. Out of weather and courious hands so it should stay there for a long time.

For the pin box, just find a very level spot. Use the mounting hardware that comes with the big pin box level. Have a drill and drill bits to drill holes for the self taping screws. They will not self tap in that thick metal. Follow the directions with the level.

I really liked that level when I was towing the 3400RL. Just looking at the bubble I could tell you how much lumber I had to put under a set of wheels.

Now, here is something that I don't think was mentioned.

Buy a small 1 inch or so level. They come with two small mounting holes, one on each end. Forget them. Find a magnetic strip and also purchase some 3m double back sticky tape. Put one side of sticky tape on back of magnet, and attach to level.

Here is how it works. Pull into, or back into, site. Raise the 5er until you see the normal daylight between hitch and king pin. Put the level with the magnet on the king pin side wall and level it so the bubble is in the middle. Move the truck forward. Adjust the front jacks until the trailer is level. Don't move the magnet with the level on it. Just let it be. Several days later you are ready to depart (or the next morning) just raise or lower the jacks until the magnet level shows the bubble in the middle. Consider that you truck suspension system may have settled, but when you back up to the king pin, you should be pretty near where you were when you unhitched.

I use one of these. When I unhook and before I level I set the slider on the bubble and then go back to that when hooking us.

To install on pin box, find a level place and tape in position. Run a bead of clear caulk on level. let dry. Saves drilling holes and I've had them on 4 fifth wheels this way with no problems.
