I had a heavy Montana for 2-1/2 years, and now own a new SOB 5th wheel that is 5,000 pounds heavier. I still tow with a beefed up 3500 long bed dually, but in our club there are numerous people pulling toy haulers with HDT's that also have a smart car or jeep behind the cab and then room for their toys in the back of the toy hauler.

Here is a pic of my new rig. I'm right at a combined weight of 30,000 pounds now. Have driven 14,000 miles with this configuration and all is fine. I still miss my Montana though. there were features I would like to have combined from both these rigs! BTW, the Montana that I had before listed in my signature is for sale again. The people that bought it only used it once and need to sell it for family reasons. Anyone interested, let me know.

i work for a logistics company, no run is over 500 miles and those are the long ones, most are less than 200 miles a trip. but in 2 1/2 years our trucks have over 200K miles on them. ---hard miles-- different drivers each trip.
and sure you can get a million miles off the motor. but nothing else. and the new smog and electronics's are high cost labor problems. trucks are down all the time for electronic troubles.
smog filter will set you back $1,000usd.
oil lube jobs are easily over $200.usd and need to be done twice a year.

never buy a used truck from a ltl company, they are the cheapest built trucks out there. and abused daily.
heck even our "new" goat has problems. even the ac vents are broken.
