I had a problem with a window blind and googled :blind repair, tucson, az. Found a shop here in Tucson, took the blind to them and they repaired it for me while I waited. Pricey ($25) but probably cheaper than replacing the thing. You might try that where ever you are.....

Those Steve posted are linked from the MOC Home Page under MOC Photo Album in the L/H column. Glenn and/or fulltimingit have captured a LOT of good info there.

Correct, VanMan, but they're physically located on my photobucket website. I didn't realized they're linked at the MOC site.

Thought I was facing a blind repair myself on our new 3585SA, because when I carefully (as always) raised one of the bedroom blinds yesterday, WHAM! It dropped like a rock. After I got over my shock and dismay, I realized that the screw anchoring one of the strings to the bottom of the window had pulled out of the wall, something that it a relatively easy fix. Tomorrow--glue and toothpicks.
Hmmmm . . . while it is an easy fix, WHY am I always having to fix screws that won't stay in walls or cabinets? Think I'll move on to the Hey, Keystone! What I'd Like to Say forum and mention the screws-pulling-out-from-walls-and-cabinets problem.

Wayne, if toothpicks and glue don't hold (but it likely will hold) then just move the bobbin a bit and create a new hole. I did that one of ours and it works fine.

Steve, those diagrams show three slides on each blind, and a bottom rail. Waddup with that? All our shades have a top rail and two slide rails. Now I am confused (which ain't unusual) Dave and Betsy

Darned if I know. I never noticed that before. I'm not anxious to pull the valance on one of ours for a closer look. It also shows one of the middle ones not having endcaps.

There are usually one of two square head (Robertson) screws that hold it in place. Often these are screwed from the under the top of the valance into a cupboard just above it. Each one is probably a little different, but just think, "if I was on a production line with x seconds to attach this thing, what is the quickest easiest way to get it up there?" and you won't be far wrong.

John, hope you don't mind, but I am posting your web site you gave me for my repair. It is awesome and great graphics. This just reminded me that I need to get busy on my little 2 stringer. Just have to get the string and that long neck Robertson screw driver
Thanks again, John!

shoot...out for a 5 day outing and wouldn't you know it...the covering for one of the strings came apart and I am unable to open our large shade. This is about a 5 footer. I was considering looking for a string alternative so I can repair it on the road, but I'll check into it further. How long will this take to repair?

I've been looking for the walkthru for the repair and so far have been unable to locate it. I could've sworn there was one.

There it is...thank you for that. Do I need that specific cord, or could I substitute? I was thinking maybe something a little tougher like clear braided fishing line.

Well I just just used what I could get locally. The mason's cord is tougher than the original, but I think that fishing line might cut into the shade material. The mfr (Irvine Shade in Elkhart) would probably supply some of the original cord. Mason's line is usually available in hardware stores, but is often coloured in fluorescent shades that don't exactly go with the decor! Whatever you use, make sure it is braided, not twisted. (If all else fails, send me a PM, and I will try to get you some of the same cord that I used.)
