I see a new and larger truck in your future. Pin weight is listed at 2520 for the 3160RL and that is before you put anything in it.

I may get a flogging on here but I have a 12" 3580rl that dry weight is a little over 12k. I estimate around 15k loaded. Pulling it with an 07 Silverado classic 4wd crew cab standard bed srw duramax with 6 spd Allison. No problems and quite a few miles pulling under my belt. I bought this truck to pull a 33' grady white boat that was 12' wide and 14' high and weighted 18k when it was light on fuel. Truck did a great job with the boat and does a great job with the trailer. I am a very anal about maintaince truck has amsoil in everything since new changed at proper intervals. I check tires and hubs before every trip and while on the road very seldom do I run over 65 m.p.h. never get in a hurry and know where I'm going. truck has 150k on the clock and most people can,t believe its an 07 I hope this helps good luck.

According to spec on this trailer the hitch weight is 2520 lbs. That is 2520 pounds of cargo in the bed of your truck. You will have to check the numbers for your vehicle but I think you might be a little shy on capacity. Info I found online shows payload max of 2564. That's total weight of cargo, fuel and passengers. Pin weight of 2520 leaves you 44 pounds for passengers and fuel (and anything else you want to carry in your truck).
Your call.....

The pin weight of the 3160RL is ~2,500lbs. The payload capacity of my F350 is ~3'500lbs giving me 1,000lbs for passengers, fuel, etc. Look on your door post for max capacity and I would guess that you will be over your payload with a 3/4 ton truck. The engine will handle it. You can get a quote to add suspension but you are probably better off with a new 1 ton.

Adding suspension doesn't increase the capacity of the truck. Same axle bearings, brakes, and registration papers. You can probably get away with it but your on thin ice, especially if something happens and the police get into equipment regulations.

While many pull Big RVs with 250/2500 Series TVs, doesn't mean they're within specs or even safe in some cases in an emergency situation.
2500 Lbs Dry pin quite often becomes 3000 to 3500 Lbs once loaded.

Hi

Most states regulate “dangerous tools” and the TV will come under that heading. This means in a serious accident you will be at fault regardless of what happened. If the accident involves serious injury or death you will be charged with a felony.

Sorry but I am not young enough to spend 20 years in the pen.

And after the police get into it your insurance company wants to discuss it.

Yes it pulls it fine but you never said what the actual pin weight is have you weighed it and what is it. What is the trucks rated Carry Capacity.

Pin weight. Real World, take trailer GVWR and figure 20-23% will be pin weight. The brochure figures are useless in real world weights.

Your 2005, 2500 probably has a GVWR of 9000lbs, truck probably weighs close to 7-7500lbs with hitch, fuel and folks. That leaves 2000lbs or less for pin weight and that makes you overweight.

You got 2 decisions, buy a smaller, lighter trailer or a larger truck.

Happy shopping.

I don't have air bags on mine and don't think you would need them

With the proper TV you shouldn't need Air Bags.

Air bags will do nothing except level the truck. You don't need it level, you need it to be able to carry the weight in the bed.

Airbags will also improve your ride while towing. That is the ONLY reason I have them on my F350 and they work great.
