You don't know Jack...

Well, me neider.
But this guy seems to. I think if I put one of these baby's on, I can squeeze another 315 watt panel on my roof.. Yippee!!

I will be doing some measuring tomorrow

BTW, any of you folks have a Jack?

Charlie, do you have it mast mounted or flange on roof mount?

The Jack seems to get mixed reviews. Some claim greatly increased channels, others no change. I changed from the BatWing with a Wingman to a Jack head and found no improvement on our Montana, so have never bothered with our SOB, plus we use Sat for most everything anyway.

Thanks Michelle and Ann, I also hardly, maybe never use the antenna, (anymore) but want to have it just in case. I only want it to make room on the roof for another solar panel if I can sneak it past Sue...

Jim,
I removed the old antenna and installed the Jack in its place. I felt it offered better reception but the thing I liked the most is with the Batwing the old antenna was very directional, the Jack is a little more forgiving, will let me figure out where the signals are and then I can fine tune.

Ozz-- We have the Jack antenna on our rig. We got it when we had the old unit and had/have it mounted to mast where the wing went. If you are looking for more space to put your solar panels, I'd put on the flange mounting model. That way you can put a panel where the mast would comes down and rest on the roof. The Jack has our vote because it sure gave/s a lot better reception and number of channels when in use. When we were down at Q and all over our SW trip two years ago we were able to pull in about twice as many channels as those with just the batwing. Of course you get duplicates of many of the stations but that way you can pick which ever one comes in clearer too.

We have had the Jack for over a year now and couldn't be happier. I opted for the mast mounted replacement head, I figured the higher in elevation I can get it the better plus was considerably less expensive than the flange mounted model. Took all of maybe 5 minutes to install. Tim

I bought a $30 Radio Shack 10db booster, turned the gain all the way up, plugged it in and went from 8 channels to 19 in my driveway. That was in our Outback 31RQS and Outback 325FRE. We have not got the Montana home from the dealers yet (its brand new) but I will be putting the amplifier in the Montana as well. Which reminds me..

I left the Amp in my Outback 325FRE! Hopefully its still at the dealers and not sold!!
