Shower Pressure
We have had a RV for some time now. The one thing that always bothered us was water pressure in the shower - weak at best. Does anyone know how to boost water pressure?

Keep in mind the shower pressure is also dependent on the campground city water pressure if you are hooked up. When we have encountered low pressure areas, we have filled the on-board fresh-water tank, then used the pump which will provide some relief. I would guess you could bump up the pump pressure (by replacing the OEM water pump) somewhat to get more pressure, but then you are trusting the "Amish craftsmen" and their skills with the water line joints. If you can find the space, you can also add a pressurized bladder tank in-line with the city water feed to bump up the pressure. As Michael says, there have been many who have upgraded the shower itself, and the favorite upgrade is the one he listed.

Then there's the city water supply, too. Sometimes the campground water pressure is low and lowers as more rigs are tapped in and this can cause the water pressure to drop too.
If we're lucky the campground water pressure is high and while I like using a water regulator that allegedly keeps the incoming water pressure to about 40 to 45 psi, this might not be enough for some of us. You can also purchase adjustable water regulators (my future plan) and set it to a higher setting like 50 to 65 psi. The RV plumbing is supposed to take this pressure.
The Oxygenics Shower Head has been a good solution for increasing the shower's water pressure, especially since this is your complaint, but this doesn't help the lavatory, sink, toilet, or outdoor shower. Like Bingo and others mention, do take care how much pressure is provided anywhere in the rig. If you make a change it's always good to be wary to check for leaks especially as the rig gets older and so does the plumbing.

I have had good results with my Watts adjustable regulator that also allows more flow.

Hey, thanks everyone for your suggestions. The shower head seems to be an easy fix. After I posted, I thought that perhaps a change to the pressure regulator at the hose bib might be in order. Adjust it according to CG pressure.

Our shower head, on our NEW 2013 3100RL is stripped where the nozzle meets the hose. We are going to need to switch it out but I was never happy with the one in there. The only problem I see is that we have that funky bronze for the fixture. Can we just change out the hose and showerhead but leave the tub fixture? Or do we need to change the whole thing?
How does it help with the water pressure issue? Is it designed for RVs or is it just a better showerhead?

The reason it helps with water pressure in the shower is both. It is designed for RV although they work well in stick houses also and it's not the cheapest shower head Keystone could find. That being said, taking the old head apart and cleaning it out will help, also removing any water restrictors that are in there as long as you don't do a lot of boon docking.

Just to clarify you don't adjust the regulator according to CG pressure. The regulator only keeps high pressure from exceeding the set point. It does not make low pressure higher. You adjust the regulator to the maxim pressure you want entering the RV. So to set it you have to be at a supply that has higher pressure than you desire. I keep mine set at 60psi. I set mine at the house where I know I have high enough pressure and then check it about once a year to make sure the regulator has not changed. You also have to be aware of the gallons per minute the regulator can pass. High pressure w/o the volume can be just as big a problem. I think mine allows like 8 gpm.I know ExNavyDiver has the specs for a couple of popular regulators. Perhaps he will be along shortly to comment. Jim

I have a regulator but I don't use it very often. If we are somewhere that has alot of pressure I will use it. As a rule I don't like them most times if you have a pressure problem its either the reg or the little screens in the fausets they will stop up. DW and I also love the oxygenics shower head a great mod. JMHO

The diameter of the hose that you use to hook the campground water to your trailer has an effect on pressure. I had to use a short half inch hose to reach the water hookup in a recent camp. I noticed that the shower pressure was much less than with my bigger diameter hose.

I bought an oxygenic shower head, one unit prior, I used to own a Cedar Creek, when I traded it in I put the old shower unit back in the Cedar Creek, I didn't change out the Shower head in the Montana right away, I really liked the color of the shower head in the new Montana, and after the first trip out, color didn't Mater, the Chrome Colored Oxygenic Shower head's presure, was by far better than what Montana provided, and for the most part, we like are Montana, much more than our Cedar Creek. Even my wife noticed the difference.

So if I were to get one of the oxygenic ones, from what I understand, I just unscrew the current hose/handle, and install the new hose and put in the new holder on the wall. Is that correct???

Ohhhh good to know! Maybe that is what we will do. I didn't hate the original one but it definitely was not 'spa' quality! Can you turn the oxygenics off or does it go to a trickle? I hope I didn't hijack this thread? Sorry if I did.

Glad to hear that. According to their website you can slow down the volume but it doesn't say you can stop it. I just wish it wasn't chrome or white. I was hoping to get one the same rubbed bronze color. I will have to order one soon.

We bought their oiled bronze version but it wasn't really an Oxygenics, as in the original version, more like just a multi-selectable stream head. It did NOT provide the same pressure that our chrome, unfortunately, head does.
