Under unit mounted heat pump
I went on a service call over at Long Island Village in Port Isabel to check a heat pump out. It was on an Alpha 5th wheel.
Be glad you have the roof mounted unit on your Keystone product, this thing was suspended with angle iron under the rig, the condenser was barely visible, had a hole for the intake-exhaust under the unit. Two compressors, the air discharge in the unit was from the floor, the cold air only discharged about a foot high. Horrible design, there was a 4 degree temp. difference between your knees and your head. To work on the thing you would have to remove the ductwork, wiring and lower it on a transmission jack. I may be wrong, but that's the way it looked to me.
Wouldn't have one.
(It was working as designed, he just wanted it looked at.)

Had one- a real job to work on it. Your right, to do most any repair, have to take it down, long job, made more difficult if in the dirt or gravel no more for me.

Yes, and with the labor costs today, expensive.

We have a friend with an Alpha Motor Home. Seems like a nice unit, but I know he mentioned that it had some sort of underfloor heating. Hope he does not have a problem with his. I know he has mentioned that any time he takes it in for service, they seem to spend about half the time on the phone talking to Alpha Tech Support. Nice looking units, but somewhat unconventional in design is my impression.

I have yet to hear anything good about Alfa's cooling setup! Id think common sense would tell you that in a poorly insulated structure like an RV it would take one heck of an air conditioner to make to enough cool air rise in order to be comfortable, heck quite often its tough enough to keep them cool when pumping it in from above. I'll bet the floors are cozy warm in the winter.

Ever notice that those Alfa's don't have a window in the entry door?
Is that so you don't see the service guy working on the heat pump?

Actually fellows, after a few upgrades that I made to the system, in my Alfa, the heating and cooling worked very well, when it worked. The system was made by Coleman, and had some flaws.
