Air Bag Suspension Recommendations

Hey All,

I am wanting to install air bag suspension on my F250 Super Duty Diesel but not sure which manufacture to go with and what package. I have been told Air Lift and Firestone are very good. Would be great to get some recommendations on the must have bells and whistles. Also, if you have any suggestion on reputable company to install that would be great.

Thank you in advance.
Paul

I have had Firestone and Air Lift both and prefer the Air Lift. I also have the on-board air and am very happy with it. My truck is a 2012 F350 SD PSD 4 x 2 SRW.
I did my own installation and it wasn't that difficult.

I went with Firestones and the on-board compressor when we were full time. Almost 3 years of hard use and never had an issue. I think both brands are top notch.

I think having the compressor was worth the extra money. I actually adjusted mine while driving on numerous occasions plus I like seeing exactly how much air they are holding.

Thank you for the replies. Headed to the local Air Lift dealer/installer to get a quote with on board compressor this week.

Firestone has a bolt on air bag kit, no drilling and easy to self install

I use the air lift system. I bought their 5000 series because they have an internal jounce bumper so the system can be ran without air. I also have the on board compressor with the digital remote that way it does not require wiring into the trucks cab. Had the system for 4 years and have not had any issues.

To be honest, I don't think there is a dime's worth of difference between the AirLift, Firestone or PacBrake bags. Only a little marketing. I've ran the Firestones on my last two duallies and have installed all three. I also opted out of the wireless compressors due to many failures at one point. I installed a Viair 10007 system on my truck and love it. I can individually inflate/deflate each bag while going down the road and fill up tires when I need to.

Hey all went with the AirLift series 5000. $1300 for parts and labor. I do have a question. Unloaded and running at about 5 psi, the compressor automatically comes on for a very brief second every time I hit a sizeable bump. Is that normal system behavior.

You. When the truck goes over the bump the suspension stretches the bags and then the pressure drops so the pump comes on. I have the Firestone's and love them. I installed them myself. I added the compressor after our last summer trip. it was a pain to inflate and drop the air at every stop. We went to 23 states. This year we are going to Maine for some lobster and will make many more stops so I installed a air pump. I didn't get the wireless which may have been easier but didn't want to risk losing the remote. This is my second year with the bags and I have no leaks so far.

I have the air lift Ultimate 5000 bags with the Wireless One Compressor. about 600 bucks total, and took me about 3 hours to install. Work great.
The wireless compressor is great because I didn't have to run any wires in the cab of my truck, and I have a wireless remote to control the pressure, looks like a garage door opener.

Thanks for the replies. I increased the pressure between 10-15psi which appears to have eliminated the nuisance automatic compressor runs when travel over road bumps with no tow load.

I hooked up my Montana today and was amazed at how much the pressure fluctuates when towing on a ruff road. About 10#

Firestone air bags on both our F-350 Dualies Has nothing to do with carry capacity but to keep the truck ,Rv perfectly level front t o back. Never a problem since 2005 on both trucks.
