Gatlingburg Campgrounds?

We are planning an early spring trip to Gatlinburg, and I've googled RV campgrounds in the area and came up with several. Has anyone camped near Gatlinburg, TN and have any advice?

We enjoyed our stay 3 years ago at "Up The Creek". New campground at the time with great owners/managers.

We live about a 100 miles from there and visit a couple times each year. Over the years we have stayed at several campgrounds around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The past several years we always stay at River Plantation in Sevierville. Its a large campground with easy access in and out and nice size sites.

X2 on up the creek. Quiet and big sites. Good owners last time we stayed.

Lots of people in the Atlanta area love Anchor Down in Sevierville.

Before you make your final decision, look up River Plantation RV Resort in Sevierville, TN. Right down the road from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Everyone from around here always stay there a couple times a year, since we are pretty close by. Very nice and clean. Rules enforced. All the amenities you would want. And far enough away from the traffic. I guarantee you will be satisfied. The closer you get to Gatlinburg, the smaller the campgrounds get. And the plus for us is the space you get.

Make sure it has not rained a bunch before staying at river plantation. The place has been known to flood especially in the spring. Stayed there in May a few years back left for the day when we got back early afternoon the entire campground was flooded. Lots of ruined motorhomes and trailers. We were on the end farthest from the river and the water was up above the axles. They pulled our trailer out with a tractor. No damage but have not stayed their again.

Gatlinburg CGs

Do you want camping with quiet, relaxing, atmosphere? If so try "UP the Creek" near Pigeon Forge or" Greenbrier CG" up Hwy 321 about 3 or 4 miles from Gatlinburg. Both more like camping with Up the Creek quieter and Greenbrier having more amenities and maybe more entertainment for kids. If you want more noise and crowds and things for kids there are lots of those all over the area. River Plantation is one of the better for this type.

We've stayed at the KOA in Pigeon Forge. You can catch the trolley into Gatlinburg from just outside the campground.

Twin Creek in Gatlinburg is nice, About 1 mile from downtown Gatlinburg. City Trolly will take into town and drop you back off at the campground entrance.

Where can I get info on Mid-Atlantic Rallies? The forum doesn't show any activity since 2017 and longer for the Southeast group.

My bad. I normally look at the date. Guess that explains no posts in the Mid-Atlantic Region since last year. Thanks for setting me straight.
