New Mexico US70

Planning our trip west and need recommendations for campground on US70 around Roswell or Ruidoso, New Mexico. Going to spend a couple of days in that area before pushing on to Las Cruses. A couple years ago we went through that area (SUV) and noticed that some of the campgrounds had HUGE dips in the entrance drives that some fivers probably could not make.

there is a little donation only park in Tatum and a nice state park in Hobbs.
also a state park near Alamogordo and some forest service parks around Ruidoso. Roswell VFW has a park for VFW members.

If it were me, I would go to the Valley of Fires and use that as a place to stay while I saw 3 rivers petroglyphs, the VLA. Lincoln and ft. stanton.

We stayed at the Trailer Village RV Park in Roswell and I think it was fine. Be sure to visit the 'Museum' in town. It made me a believer about the 'alien' landing. Way too many sworn affidavits on people's death beds to not have some basis for it.

We stayed at the Circle B RV Park in Ruidoso last June and would again. Gets consistently high reviews on campgroundreviews.com. Very clean and well kept. Very friendly and helpful owners. Pretty area. $35/night.
