VA West VA Corridor H

We will be pulling out of Bergton Virginia, which is on Virginia 259, heading back to SE Michigan.

We will be towing Tana and driving a Uhaul truck. Yes, 2 vehicles.

The locals have been telling us that we can take 259 (which we know is a heavily traveled by trucks) north to Corridor H, at Moorefield, which is noted as 55, 48, 28 and who knows what other numbers. (I am still trying to figure this all out, can you tell?? )

Take this west to Elkin and then onward to Buckhannon via 33 and on west to I-79 north.

SOOOO, dear West Virginia peeps, what cha think??

As always, thanks in advance.

Carol, the route from Moorefield to Seneca Rocks is a good
one, two lanes with no problematic areas. From Seneca Rocks
to Elkins is another story. I think there are seven mountains total which
are typical WV mountain two lane roads with grades and occasional sharp turns including a couple of hairpins. It is doable, but you will keep a good grip
on the wheel and the seat. It is very scenic with majestic
views. You may want to look at heading north and catching 50 west if you do not want to
be so adventurous. Both ways are scenic, but 50 is a lot less stressful.

My personal preference is to take I81 to I70 to I68. It's all interstate highway. If you want take Corridor H (US48), I would not go to Elkins. I would hit US219 north to I68. It's better road and quicker.

Thanks guys!!

Having done 68 twice, the National Road, I am not sure I want to repeat that either. Al drove it both times and I have never. But, it was stunning and a bit of a knuckle whitener both times. I swear, it was a not a lot different than some roads out west.

You have given us much to consider. Sure appreciate it!
