Chaco Canyon road conditions

We are finally getting around to going to Chaco then Bandelier next week. Anyone been up there this summer?
I hear To access Chaco, come in from the north the road is not as bad.

Haven't been there in years. Back then we took a rented Pathfinder and I was really glad it wasn't my car. I'd call them and get a current assesment. Be aware that this is what they say on their own website: http://www.nps.gov/chcu/planyourvisit/directions.htm
