OK, Keystone. Here's an easy one

Do you really HAVE to write the last five digits of the serial number on the pin box in GREASE PENCIL when it leaves the factory? It looks horrible on an otherwise good looking fifth wheel. How about chalk, or a tag of some sort. It would be much easier to get off. I know acetone works, but it also takes the paint with it.

Just make it easy on your customers instead of convenient on you... please.

Gone to repaint my pin box.

Every time I get a new unit, I have to spend time removing decals and dealer stickers.

Can you please tell me when the new 2016 model Monty can be ordered? Also is there any big changes planned for the 2016?

Generally speaking the new model year does not get introduced until fall but that does mean Montana or SOB will introduce mid year model changes. They are notorious for this and some folks have been surprised when they get their new rigs to find changes they did not want or expect.

If you go to the fall rally they will usually introduce the big changes. Some will be available almost immediately and others may not be available until later in the year. Occasionally something they show us at the rally as being the next big thing still doesn't make it into actual production. As Les indicated, ordering a new rig can be more of a crap shoot than it should be.

From our experience last year when we ordered in March they were 2014s and once our's was built in middle of April they changed the year stamp to 2015. Really no design changes were made at that time. Then come fall 2014 they made many changes to the 2015 floor plans currently being built. My point is we have an early 2015 3610 model that is quite different from the late 2015 floor plan.

Now to the original post our dealer also writes customer's name in grease pencil on the pin box. They are a large dealer so I guess it makes it easy for the loader operator.

We ordered in late February 2012. It was to be a 2012 unit. When it was built April 13th, it was a 2013 unit.

I think the main reason Keystone/Montana write the last digits of the serial numbers on the hitch is because when the unit comes off the line it is moved to a storage lot or yard. When the unit gets transported to the dealer, there is nobody on that lot from Keystone to take the transporter to the unit. They know approximately where the unit is lined up BUT it is up to the transporter to locate it, hook up and tow it to your dealer. It's a lot easier to see the white numbers on the black hitch than walking around the units to get the correct unit. There is someone at the gate (normally) to check the invoice sheet with the serial # on it that the transporter has in his TV and the serial # of the unit he has behind the truck. It is a lot easier to see a white number on the black hitch than going out to check the small numbers on the ID tag on the unit. You would not believe how many units leave the lots per day. Consider 13-15 units coming off the line per day and multiply that over the year. Also if they put it in white chalk the number would wash off or run off if they have rain come along while the unit is sitting in the lot.

Hubby used WD40 and a lot of elbow grease to get it off our Big Sky. Didn't hurt the paint.
