Solar panel mounting

I was just curious if anyone could shed some light on mounting solar panels to the roof of my trailer?
Is it most common to drill through the roofing materials, or is there an alternative? Thank in advance.

On the old rig they were screwed down to the roof and then the screws were covered with Dicor self leveling lap sealant.

I just bought this Montana 2018 3120 rl .
It has the one piece rubber membrane roofing material. I was concerned about drilling due the expansion and contraction. Looking for options

Installed solar panels On both my old Sea Breeze and current Montana. Cleaned area where panel mounts go. Placed panel on roof and marked screw holes. Pre-drilled. Then put bead of Dicor self leveling in figure 8 around holes? Placed panel, screwed it down (stainless steel screws)and then ran Dicor over screw heads. Never had a leak.
