Mission tires

I know everyone is posting about the Marathon Bombs on here, but I just looked at my tires and they say Mission Radials on them...did I get the step child of Marathon?

I had Missions on the unit and drove into a parking area and had to cross a small curb to get to the RV spaces. less than a week later I had large bubbles in the sidewalls inside and out on the two that crossed the curb. I replaced with G-614s.

Missions were put on the units before the Marathons were put on if I'm not mistaken!

Been lots of reports of Mission blowouts and/or tread separation. I ran mine to 5,000 miles before replacing them with Michelins. Still looked good as far as tread, but the sidewalls were looking very rippled.

Run as fast you can from the Mission Time Bombs. Seriously!! I replaced mine with the BFG Commercial TA this spring and after pulling off the missions and examining the rear drivers side tire, it had a broken belt that would have let go soon and probably done lots of $$$$ in damage. I have about 3-4 thousand on my BFG's now and just love the performance and ride. Great having the peace of mind of having quality tires on my expensive hobby. I did a couple months of research on line about LT tires and after talking to those who actually had real life experiences with them, I had no reservations about purchasing them.

As stated above Missions were before the Marathons, but lots of issues with them too. We had 3 tread separations and one blow out on our Mountaineer that had Missions.

What was left after the Mission blow out:

Look out for the Freestar tires. When I noticed cracks in the tread of mi Missions they were replaced, all 5 with Freestar tires, thought I would used them for a year or so, since they were free and then replace them with serving better later, Not a good idea.
Lost one on this last trip, probably cost $1000.00 in repairs.

Missions are bad news. I got a couple of years out of them...before one started coming apart. I replaced them with LTs.

My daughter's SOB had Mission tires. This summer we went on a 1200 mile road trip, them with their SOB and us with our Montana. In two days they had two tires blow and a third was starting to delaminate. Tire pressures were checked each day before started driving. The tires were 5years old but looked new.
Two take aways... Stay away from Missions and replace tires on age not looks.

Mission (China) tires are the parents of the GY Marathon (China) tires. I see you have a 2008 model and our is also which came with the Missions. Had separation of two Missions and bought 5 replacements right away. Mission tires are no longer being made under that name, anyway!

I have lots of pictures of our problem tires, Mission, Freestar, and Marathon but won't post since there are already some good examples in this thread. I agree with those who say watch them very closely. You may be ok with them for awhile. Or not. Our last China bomb blowout did $2100 in damage when it blew out the side of the kitchen slide. Now we ride on tires made in the USA and have had no problem at all in 16 months. I can't recall ever going that long without problems with the Chinese tires.
