Seal Damage
Will the seals get damage if the slides are opened in freezing weather. Should I heat the interior before opening slides? Any one with opnions or experience?

I probably don’t have the expert answer that you would be looking for but I doubt that the cold weather will hurt anything. I’ve opened and closed ours in cold weather and haven’t noticed any problems.

That is a good question. We have never been in cold weather with either of our Montana's so we have no idea.

I'm like Bill without an expert answer but we have used our several times with temps in the low teens and never had a problem. Jim

you won't have any problem in cold weather. oil doesn't freeze and the seals are made of viton or niopreme which are very flexible in cold weather. just look at hydraulic systems on tractors or any equipment that is used year round

I am not sure if you are referring to the seals on the hydraulic rams or the rubber seals on the sides and top of the slides. If it is the rubber seals, they tend to act like a windshield wiper and flex in when bringing in the slide and out when putting it out. I have found when putting the slides our in freezing weather they tend to not flex back and forth because they are so stiff, in some cases part will flex and part won't. This affects the seal around the slide for wind and rain and in some cases snow.
I don't move mine any more than I have to when temperatures are below freezing.
The hydraulic seals as racerjoe said are not a problem in cold weather.

Seals survived, but the slidetoppers sure took a beating.
