B/R slide moved out a little...

We brought the 3400 home today. It towed much better than I expected being that it’s somewhat heavier. Anyway, shortly after leaving the dealer I noticed the B/R slide moved out about 2 inches at the bottom. I can’t be positive that it wasn’t left that way before we left but I don’t think it was. We pulled over and closed it all the way. While carefully watching, it didn’t happen any more for the next 25 miles or so home. We did open just one slide using the controls just before we left. Could that have caused a small burp in the hydraulic system that would have allowed it to drift a small amount?

If the slide wasn’t going to hold wouldn’t it have started going back out again?

Has anyone ever opened just one slide and then notice this?

I do remember the bedroom slide opens first and closes last on the 3400, so if the valve was not completely closed on it to isolate the slide you were opening, it is a possibility that there could be enough hydraulic pressure to push it slightly. I would just keep an eye on it.

On my 3400 the BR slide opens first and closes first.

Used to have the problem somtimes. Now after I am all hooked up and ready to leave I go back inside and check everything. The last thing I do before locking the door is push the switch for the rooms one more time for just about half a second, I have never had the problem after doing that.

I have not had the problem you talk about but do know when I bought ours I had done some reading to understand the hydralic system that works the slides on our unit, all are not the same. With the slides in I filled the tank just below the top and put a mark on the fluid tank, full mark, and kept and eye on tank to see if it was leaking. It was not full when I got it. After filling it it has never requdired anymore fluid. Make sure it is near full with slides in so you don't get air in the lines. I run my slides in until I hear the pump strain for a second before relaeasing the switch. Your tank may not have been full when you got it.

Ours did the same as yours when we first got it. Scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it happen. Had to carry the remote in the truck with me the rest of the way home (600 mi.)and used it three times while driving to close the slide (it only opened about 1-2 ", never went further out). Checked the fluid reservoir after we got home, found it was low and had a local dealer top it off and check out the system. He found nothing else wrong. We had no movement on first tow after that, but the next trip it (br slide) moved out about an inch. There must have been a little air in the line or a sometimes sticking check valve as it hasn't done it again since. I always carry the remote on the truck console now just in case it moves again.

I have a 2010 3150 RL and this has been an ongoing problem with mine. My dealer kept fluffing me off about it suggesting "try this, try that". It became obvious to me that he didn't want to deal with the hydraulics.

Anyway, my bedroom slide will creep out about 5 inches while standing in my yard. It creeps out 1 - 2 inches while traveling and I use the remote to just run it back in while moving. This happens about 2 out of 5 times. I topped off the reservoir which was way low right from the dealer. Lately I find that if I hold the switch in for one extra second the room stays where it belongs. I never wanted to hold the switch too long for fear of bursting a line but now I find it helps. So far the room has not moved when I hold the switch in an extra second.
This seems to be an issue with the Lippert hydraulic systems.

And yes, the bed room moves first in most cases. I have three slides in my unit. Generally the lightest weight slide moves first, then the next heaviest, and so on. Weather moving in or out they always move in the same order, lightest to heaviest.

Keep an eye on the slides and have it addressed if it's a problem.

Good luck,

Kevin

I believe your "problem" began when you opened another slide and the bedroom slide "bumped open a bit" and you never saw it when you closed the other slide. A pre-departure walk around solves many problems. My boss is in charge of the walk around.

Had it happen once, but also noticed a slight fluid leak at the control/shut-off valves, removed the knobs and tighten each nut (only have two slides) re-installed the knobs and no leak and slides stay put.

Bill, we've several times opened just one slide and never had this problem. And it's been different slides we opened at different times.

I’m not sure now I have a problem. I think I might have left it ajar and didn’t notice it. I took it back to the dealer for some minor work and it never moved after the one time I closed it. I believe if I had a problem it would have came back open. I noticed the quickness of movement compared to our older one and I can see how it may have been simply left open at the bottom and just not noticed.
