Splitter on portable Wineguard Satelitte

Tried to add a third TV on my two directv boxes and I couldn't get a splitter to work off of my Wineguard Tailgate unit. Is it possible?

I know the small antennas don’t like splitters. There are some HDMI splitters, you might be able to use, then you wouldn’t need another receiver.

The problem with a splitter and a tailgator type antenna is that the antenna is powered by the receiver and anything in the line will deminish the power to the point where they may not work.

I have the opposite of what you have. One TV and 2 Carryout dishes one permanent and one portable. They work perfect with a splitter switch. The portable one has 50 feet of cable on it and still works.

I have used a splitter with my Pathway X2 No problem. Actually used a splitter with 50' cable and it worked fine.

Splitter has to be specific for satellite, not cable

I must not be thinking about the right kind of splitter? I was talking about a cable splitter?? Am I wrong?

Splitters reduce your signal strength by 3dB (half power) each. You will also drop signal power by 0.5 dB for each connector the signal passes thru. You probably don't have enough signal coming off you antenna to overcome any additional down stream power loss.

Are you referring to a "barrel" connector to connect two cables versus "splitter" (1 in, 2 out)? I have never had any issue using barrel connectors to add more length. I have got signal as far as 130 plus out with multiple barrel connectors and cables.
