2022 295 RL galley grey tank

FWIW: drained grey 2- galley tank and filled it up to where there was 2" of standing water in both sinks. Using in-line gauge that is fairly accurate I got 24 gallons. Surprised me; no wonder I have to dump it so often....another surprise is we use nearly 5 gals/daily dish wash when not trying to conserve. I realize wiping dishes first then washing, etc., etc will save water; but, we just wash dishes like we are at home as we very seldom boondock.

That doesn't sound right! You have 2 gray tanks for total of 88 gallons. I'd call the dealer and inquirer what the sizes are.

Agree with Tony. You should have two 44 gallon gray tanks for a total of 88 gallons of gray water. Could there be some sort of obstruction in the tank or the vent stack prevent it from filling all the way?

RM: I assume there is something wrong; I was just stating what I actually did. We're on the road in Idaho and headed to Coeur d alene for a dealer to repair/replace (2nd time) Schwintek bedroom slide so I will be asking them for info to confirm or figure out what is going on. I'll post when I figure it out.

If you rarely boondock, just leave the shower and sink drains open. Then there is no fear of overfilling any of those tanks. Just remember to put a "P" trap in the sewer pipe (using some blocks or whatever) to keep the sewer gasses from coming back at you.

I agree the sink tank should be bigger than 24 gallons. Not necessarily 44 gals, as I do think it is slightly smaller than the shower tank due to its location.

C&S; we installed a secondary sewer valve that keeps some water backed up in pipes so gases don't back up. Also, after draining black tank I close secondary, dump grey tanks one at a time which will help flush black=works very well and gets more solids out. I read that trick on this forum. Filling galley grey isn't an issue as we see it back up in sink and we just dump black early and use grey 1 to flush. No worries; but, when I get to dealer I will ask them to help figure this out. Thanks all for opinions. We still really like this 5er just taking longer (and more $$) to work out the bugs.

In our 21 3121 RL, our galley tank is 18 gal. We are pretty good about wiping all dishes prior to washing it all. I also put a valve in so I can use the black tank as a spare grey tank as we use a composting toilet and never have used the black tank except for extra gray water storage. Helps quite a bit!

Jack, this may be a dumb question but you are pulling the handle that comes through the frame just ahead of the axles on the drivers side aren't you? That one drains the galley gray. The two gray tanks are not connected to each other unless you leave both open so they equalize and then you have water in the main drain line also so it needs to be dumped before the black can be dumped. There are many an RV salesperson and even some of the service techs that do not know of that handle and never tell the buyer about it. I have also seen cases that the top cutout hole where the vent pipe or the inlet goes into the tank, the cutout portion has fallen into the tank and has gotten up against the outlet drain valve and stopped it from draining. This could also be the case here. C Let us know what the dealer in Ceour d alene has to say.

I have had this same issue with my 3761 since new. The dealer said they could not find anything wrong. Frustrating!!!

Rhondo: thanks- yes I use that valve; also added a secondary valve at end of single pipe so grey tanks can be used to help rinse black.

bwright: dealer working on our bed slide told me they do (not often) see different tanks etc installed due to not having std equipment in stock. I'm not going to remove coroplast?? as we'll just deal with it.
