Need help with Bedroon slide

It took 10 years to find out we had water infiltration on one corner of my 2004 Mountaineer bedroom slide.

I took the bed apart and found the support for the slide rotten completely on the left side. Using a car jack I lifted the left side of the slide to be leveled, removed all the rotten wood and replaced it with plywood not pressed wood as previously used.

There is only about 3 inches of wood covered with carpet the width of the slide that will need replacement. There are no rollers or other devices to support the slide. It slides on the carpet that is all.

Questions:
Can this repair be done without actually removing the slide?
Should I simply take the 5th wheel to a RV repair shop and let them decide?

We are sitting in Palm beach FL till mid April. My temporary fix is good till I get back to Ontario. There is no rush but it will need fixing.

Thank you.
