Electrical question?
We have a 2018 3731FL Montana and have a question regarding connecting to truck when still connected to 50 amp service.
I understand when connected to 50 amp it keeps the rv battery charged.Does connecting to truck will it cause a adittional surge of some sort by the trucks 12volt connection?

Don't know about any "Surge", but depends, I believe Fords have a relay that only connects the Trucks battery system for the RV when the truck key is on, while GMs 12V line to the RV is always hot, Rams I don't have a clue.
When stopping overnite, we try to stay hooked up and I'll leave the RV connected to the TV and have had no issue in years of doing this. How ever, if we spend the nite without power I disconnect the RV from the TV, just don't want to take the chance of draining the TV Batteries.

We stay hooked up and connected to shore power on overnight stops and we disconnect the power cord from the truck.I do not remember why we do this but we always have. Maybe it is a good thing maybe it is not necessary but it only takes a few seconds to do it.

We disconnect TV when on shore power just to be safe. If there was a short in the 5er You don't want 120 volts going into your TV it would kill all the computers.

If I'm just staying for the night and not unhooking I don't bother disconnecting even when hooked up to power. With 4 x 6 volt batteries I don't see any requirement to do so either when not hooked up to power.

I believe the 120v system has the power into the circuit breaker panel and to the converter(?) to supply power to the 12v battery and the 12v lighting system/refrig. So there is no cross pollination.
