mor-ryde system

At what age or mileage has any one had to change their Mor-ryde suspen sion system?

We installed the I/S system and disc brakes on our 2002 about 2 years ago. If you plan on keeping the trailer I would install new brakes and the MorRyde system.

As I reread your post it looks like you are asking when you would change the rubber shear blocks out because of age or miles. As for that I check them a couple of times a year. I would plan ahead to make sure the local representative dealer has them in stock if you plan to replace them. I am not sure what the manual has for a recommendation for replacement.

I had to change mine out at the end of my 3rd year of ownership. I think you just have to look them over per the following tip sheet and judge your own situation. Weight of fiver, roads traveled, luck of the draw will all factor in. There are several full timers and long timers on this site that are regular repliers. Their RV lifestyle and valued additions such as the I/S independent suspension upgrade may not be the answer to all members on this site. The LRE 4000 rubber suspension on like mine and probably yours work well for our needs ... we are recreational campers only spending 6-8 weeks a year in our unit.

We full time and after five years, I decided to replace the rubber shear springs.They probably would have been OK, but had sagged quite a bit and had cracking that I was not happy with. I ordered the pair directly from MorRyde, and they were delivered very fast. If the opportunity presents itself, I will probably have the IS system installed with disk brakes, but for now we are good.

I just changed my suspension out last September..my Montana is a 2008...the rubber shear springs had a few cracks not that bad.. but the spring shackles bolt holes were worn real bad..I installed the wet bolt kit at the same time..I had Morryde check them..they said I could get probably another year out of them..I did not want to take that chance

I replaced the wetbolts in my 2006 this year after installation in 2009. I had about 8 years of use with grease injection annually. We drive about 4000 miles a year. Everything else looks good to go for me.

I had to replace mine last year on our 2010, we put a couple of thousand miles a year on it.

I probably had about 60,000 miles or more on our Montana when I replaced the shear spring and shackles..

I guess the first question that shoulld have been asked is: Which Mor/ryde system are you asking about?? Rubber Pin Box, CRE3000 Suspension System, LRE4000 & RE Suspension System, SRE4000 Suspension System, or Independent Suspension.

When you had the suspension system installed -
did the height of your trailer frame go up?

Ours went up 2 to 3 inches and they (Morryde) had to lower the 6 point leveler units 3 inches. Now there are times when leveling the trailer that the tires on one side will be off the ground an inch or two.

My system was LRE when I replaced it did not change the height..it was the same system that was on the unit when it was built..

On our 2012 Montana, I am awaiting new shear springs from MORryde as this is written. The passenger side one failed completely. Possibly due to allowing the wet bolts to dry out. Those are being replaced too, just as a precaution. One question however, hopefully someone knows the answer to... according to the LRE4000 installation manual, there is a code molded into the spring (12, 16, 20 & 24). Are these related to the weight the springs are rated for? e.g. 12 = 12,000 lbs? 16=16,000 lbs? etc.

12,16,20,24 refers to the durometer (density) of the rubber in the shear spring ... not weight. Your old spring should have had a stamped number on it somewhere. When you talked with Mor-Ryde ... they should have inquired as to the GAWR of your unit to pair up the shear spring. I doubt if not greasing your wet bolts had anything to do with the shear spring failure ... it happens with time.
