Suggestion for a Mod
I have a suggestion for some of you Modification Wizards or for even Keystone to try. I have often wished they would add another tank level gauge by the dump valves. It could be mounted in the outside Control Panel to keep it out of the weather. This would be very handy and save time running back inside to check the tank level when flushing the black tank or power filling the fresh water tank.
Just a thought!

I guess I'm missing something. How would a level indicator help? When you back flush, you don't fill the black water tank, you merely put enough water in to flush the remaining sediment out. As for filling the fresh water tank, when it's full, it will overflow and then you stop putting water in.
Help me understand what you're suggesting.

Some of us do partially fill the black tank when flushing since this serves to dislodge more of the sediment. I use the five minute rule when filling the black tank with the flusher. I do agree on the fresh water tank, however we have only used it one time and that was because of sub-freezing temperatures. My only concern regarding an additional gauge for the black tank would be that the one I have doesn't work, so how would I be confident that a second one would work any better. The idea may well benefit some, but I would pass on it myself.

The black gage on my new 2013 3402 Big Sky came from the factory reading 1/3 full.They are useless. The idea is a good one but it would have to be a g ood gage.

I fill my black tank full everytime I flush it out. Have a clear elbow on the sewer hose and I flush it until it is clear. Great idea for a gauge outside.

The extra gauge is a great idea if it were coupled with outside the tank sensors.

I bought a water meter from a garden center for monitoring the amount of water we use, back flush with and refill tanks with...works like a charm....plus once we get home we always fill the black tank with about 30-35 gals and let it sit till we go again...we do have a dump at our site on the farm ,,I know everyone does not have a easy place to dump...but if it sits for a couple of weeks you might be surprised what will exit the tank the first couple of times you do that...now it is generally pretty clear....also makes it easy to fill fresh tank when desired...I consider it worth the $24 cost...

I think some kind of gauges would be good at the dump and fill tanks as a suitable mod, but my dump valves and fresh water fill are in 3 different locations on my rig. I do agree that this would have to include better gauges than the ones provided. This would require a bit of work but after they're installed it would be a good mod.

Good idea, on Boilers we use a sight glass. Water seeks it's own level so a guy could rig some hoses up to make the sight glass idea work, but that would be another possible maintenance issue. Electronic gages have all seen to be unreliable, so I would not use them for that reason. Might be a challenge to get this good idea into play.

Wow, 2 pages of replies so quickly, Cool. 
I understand the gauges that come with the unit are not the best quality but something is better then nothing I guess. The fresh water tank guage should be more accurate then the others because it doesn't have the mess floating in it. I usually try to almost fill my black tank when flushing because it gives it more force when dumping to get everything out.
You know, on our firetrucks we had electronic water level gauges and they were very accurate. Maybe Keystone can try those instead but they are more expensive.
