3402RL vs 3750FL

We just came from the Houston RV Show and liked both the Montana fifth wheel 3402RL and 3750FL. Both models have their good points. Has anyone else had to choose between these two models? What model did you choose and why? Thanks for any replies.

Hello, there was no 3402 when we were shopping. We narrowed it down to 3400, 3750, and 3455. Really liked them all,
But we decided against the 3400 because the computer desk and TV were together, noise and small TV. We decided against the3750 because you must negotiate the stairs often and no chairs only couches, plus you loose storage space in basement. Had there been a 3402 then I'm sure DW would have chosen the large tub. We chose the 3455 sa because of recliners , computer desk, decent tub, large basement, all in one coach. IMHO. Larry

Like Hook, we currently have a 3455SA after having a 07/3400 model previous. In the 07 we were sold on the feature of having a desk but found during cold spells it was cold and uncomfortable sitting for long at the desk. We will never go back to plan with the desk in a slide, nor a model without the desk area. The 3750 has the desk in much the same area as the 3455SA well away from the tv viewing area. Ohh that large shower of the 3402 is certainly tempting buuut we just love our all in one bathroom in the 3455. Keep us posted on what YOU decide and why.

We are looking at the 3402..The extra vanity is a big plus for us. We have the 06 3400 and we ned the PC desk as is in the 3400 and the 3402. We have not been bothered by the Tv right next to the PC desk. Never gave it a thought as to noise..

The 3402 was not available when we bought, but we did compare the 3750FL with the 3400RL. We did not like the desk right next to the TV and being 6'4" tall, the recliners were too small. We went with the 3750FL because of the headroom in the bedroom and bath. Again, I did not want my head in a skylight when taking a shower. You can still see most of the TV from the desk and the J-couch is very comfortable. Being a recliner guy, I did not think I would like the J-couch, but I do. Storage is not a problem. With the rear storage, I have the same storage that I had in other RVs. The 3750FL negatives: the kitchen should have been reversed so you can see TV from the dining room (see the Alpine); a pocket door should be installed between the bed and bath to prevent smashing the door if you forget to close it or it pops open in transit. Really like the two doors, which we use the 2nd as the mud room. Good luck!

Since the 3750 has 2 doors, you can make 1 of them a doggy door big enough for those 180+ pounds of chow hounds.

If we were to get another rig it would be the 3750 because of the two doors.
It allows you full access to everything in the rig at rest stops with-out putting the slides out and gives you a great mudroom if needed.
Is a great location to confine your pet, with food and water? If for some reason you have to leave them home, and easy to clean if they have any accident.
Confines the washer and dryer and removes them from the living area in the rig.

We have a 3400, it`s the same basic floorplan as the 3402 with out the extra sink and long tub.
We love the desk with windows over it, the TV next to it has never been a problem.
We love the big back window in the living area.
I`m 6'4" and have never had a problem in the shower.
The 3400 has access to the bed room with out putting out slides.

They make a lot of different models for a lot of different people.
You have to get the one that`s right for you.

If .... You like to cook a lot, I think the 3402 has the better kitchen. The storage is superior also. There is a door between kitchen & bath area "and" a door between the bedroom & bath area.

The desk was important for us as well as having the w/d out of the bedroom!

Those 2 things were imperative for us. So "you" need to decide what works best for you & yours. Both are good.

We haven’t seen the 3402 but it really sounds nice! We also like the 3750 FL. It would be a difficult secession for sure if we had to choose. We haven’t had the 3400 for a full year at this time and we really like it. There are so many little things that we like about it that right now I wouldn’t want to have to make a decision.

We ordered a 3800RL about a month ago. Really like the space and the double frig. We live in ours 6 months of the year because of job. Had a 3475RLS and really liked it, but decided to get a new before everything starts to go wrong. Never had a problem with old one except convection oven. Hope we have the same luck with the new one. Now trying to decide whether I want the combo w/d like I had or the separate w/d. Liked the combo except for wrinkles when drying. I think the newer ones have bigger drums. Will have to do some checking.

My DW and I are looking at the 3402. She is a super cook and loves the kitchen. We also like the extra sink and the larger shower. Everyone has different needs.

We have the combo washer/dryer that we installed last summer. Using it every other day and no problems with wrinkles provided you don't over load it and remove them as soon as they're done.

The desk next to the tv would be a problem for us (in our 3400RL) if we used the desk as a desk or computer desk. We don't. We have laptops and they sit on our laps. The desk has the printer on it along with our aircard router and some other things. And the desk drawers are used for storage. But if someone does use it as a desk, then that would be a problem.

Thanks for replies. We are considering going full timing this year and will want to make the right decision on what model best suits our needs.

Be sure to stand in the new shower/tub of the 3402RL. I was pretty much set on ordering the 3402RL in a Big Sky this summer until I stood in the shower. I am 6'1 and the outside edge of my left shoulder to the outside edge of my right shoulder is 27" across. In order for me to close the sliding doors on the tub, I'd have to stand sideways in there. Not to mention the shower head is not mounted high enough on the wall to even hit me in the face with water. This might not be an issue for you, but better to be safe than sorry once the order is placed.

Montana Sky, our shower head is adjustable ... Up/down & the angle adjusts!

You don't have to buy rv-specific washer/dryer stack. Ours is apartment sized, designed for apartments, not rv's. We had this stack installed in July 2002 in our prior Montana and moved to this one. The tubs are significantly larger than the rv-specific units. Not as big as full-sized house units, though. Our units were made by Whirlpool but there are other brands, including Kenmore (our other choice).

Does your dryer run on 120V like RV dryers?
