TV storage?

For those of you that live in the colder climates, do you remove your TVs during storage? I've had people tell me for years they've kept their TVs (even the new LCDs) in the cold coach without any issues, but it sure seems counterintuitive to me. Any advice? Winter's coming fast here in MI darn it

I think I will defer to the owner's manual for the TV itself.

My Samsung home LCD TV manual says storage temp of -4F to +113F. Don't know if that is typical or not.

We didn't remove ours last winter and was unseasonably cold. So far no problem.

We have left our TV's in our trailers to -35C, -31F without any issues, and I unplug if any are 12v.

Have left our LCDs in the 3400RL now for three years without incident. Just do not try and use them at that temp without warming them up first.

Both our tvs were in the Monty when it made a record of -53C in Dec of 2009 in the North West. Did not do anything special and all electriacal and electronics worked okay.

I remove our LCD television, but leave the bedroom television in the trailer. I use the television in my office during the winter months. Best thing to do is check your owner's manual.

Funny thing about temps. Allegedly, the TVs are supposed to be pretty hearty but since one can't guarantee Mother Nature will keep the temperature within the storage temperatures and the device survives, what does this do to its long term life? It might work later that year, but has its life been shortened?

The owner's manual will state recommended storage and operating temperatures, but this does not mean the TV will not fail. It just means they won't warranty it when it does if they can prove abuse (sometimes they can tell) and you certainly might increase longevity by adhering to their recommendations even after any warranty period.

As its owner it's your decision. Personally, I would remove them and put them somewhere warmer but that's just me. Things break enough under normal conditions and I'm not the type to try and help that along maybe to a fault. You should start with its storage recommendations and hope Mother Nature cooperates but there have been TV failures and we blame poor quality and forget it just might be some owner abuse. Convenience, experience, and what you want to do will affect your decision, just like some of us prefer to live in warmer weather over colder weather. This week I wish we lived in Nome.
