Thank You Goodyear

So often we only hear the bad and complaints on the various forums. We have a positive experience to share regarding great customer service from Goodyear. I'm not looking to debate their tires here but just just share an experience.

We suffered a blow out on one of the dreaded Marathon tires and had some damage to our Montana. We called Goodyear, explained what happended, they set up a case, agreed to replace the tire, repair the camper, and allowed us to upgrade the other four tires with a credit of $170. per tire, to G 614s. No hassle, no attitude, they just wanted to take care of us. I sent in copies of the invoices and we received a check within 10 days. Really, they couldn't have handled it any better and we had zero stress regarding the claim or reimbursement. They made it eary for us. Thanks to Goodyear and their customer service.

Almost all reports have been good service after the event. Now if we could just get Keystone to quit putting Marathons on in the first place.

They do put the G614s on if you wish to get the option.

We had a similar experience, very satisfied. Thanks for the good report. We do hope that Keystone will step up and stop using any troublesome tires.

Good to hear. Now if they would phase out the Marathon and save people a lot of anxiety and aggravation. Maybe they keep it around to make the G614 look good in comparison.

I also can not say enough about the customer service. They are a good company to stand behind their product. I think they get a tremendous amount of engineering in a compressed time-frame from the NASCAR racing. A dream for a tire company to get such a testing laboratory.
But I do think there are problems with the G614 design, or rubber compound. Scores of people have had the same problem, can't be a fluke.

I am right in the middle of the same process. Last Sunday I posted that we had our right rear Marathon tire self destruct causing damage to the plastic bezel around the tires and the lower metal panel on on bottom of the slide. Last week I filed a claim with Goodyear. Friday I had my Marathons replaced with G614's. I just need to send Goodyear pictures of the damage, the completed claim form, and estimates of the damage. Hopefully they will be as graceful to me as they were to you.

Sounds like you got a good deal. When I had a Marathon problem (bubbles on the inside as big as volleyballs), they only offered me a 50% discount off a new Marathon. I did not take the offer, but there was also no damage to the coach.

Some great responses and I'm glad to see others have had good luck with the Goodyear when things go wrong. But what has been pointed out so well here, is that they need to fix the tire so it is more reliable, and Keystone needs to put another tire on the Montanas so we get what we paid for. The Marathons are not up to the task and we have bent Mike Mack's ear on this matter for sure.

This week I had a Marathon blowout causing damage to my 2011 3455SA. Did you contact Goodyear corporate or your local distributor?

Hello OZ

Here is a copy of a post I put on a different topic

I had a set of G614 tire that developed the abnormal wear pattern. Goodyear agreed to give me a free set if I upgraded my wheels to the 110-PSI wheels. I purchased a set of used wheels from a MOC member that had installed the IS suspension. They came with G614 tires that had newer date codes than the tires the dealer had in stock. So I didn’t get my free tires. I now have over 10,000 miles on them and they are wearing very well.

The most cost effective way to go is 17.5 steel wheels and the Goodyear Low Boy tires that are rated for extremely heavy loads are low profile so they are not any taller than the G614 and cost less than half of the G614. The fellows with the Low Boy trailers are having good luck with them.

Now the only draw back I can think of concerning the Low Boy tire is the ridged sidewalls. Will the frame and suspension system tolerate the loads imposed on some of the roads we travel?

We had a G614 tires lose air due to a bad OEM valve stem on the way to Florida. Had the spare put on at a truck stop. Took the tire to a Goodyear store in Haines City Florida who installed a new valve stem free of charge.Said it was their tire and was not happy about the quality of the valve stem.. Had another stem lose pressure last month on a camping trip took it to my local good year store in Ohio who replaced the stem free of charge.. Same story. We have both defective OEM stems. Both had dry rot. Keystone gets them at the fall rally.

Well I had the same experience with the Goodyear damage claims team as everyone else, it was very positive and stress free but, I cant, for the life of me, understand why a company that builds such an awesome product as the Montana Fifth Wheel would put these marginally adequate tires on their product. I know it's been discussed here a lot, way before I joined up and there's no use beating a dead horse. The only thing that bothers me was when we first looked at the 3625RE that we purchased, I commented to the Salesman that the trailer had Goodyear tires on them and that was a good thing, he smiled and said "dang right, we only put the best on our stuff". Liar Liar Pants on fire! I was always within specs of the tires, load wise, inflation, driving speed ect. and I still had 2 bite the dust in a big way, maybe just bad luck I guess.
Sorry for the rant.
