Baggage locks

Does anybody have trouble unlocking the baggage locks? It takes wiggling and several tries to get ours unlocked. Mentioned it to dealer when we first purchased and they said that's just how they are, frustrating for it to take 5 minutes to get the thing opened!!

Mine are a little tough, but I changed the locks. If it's the locks try using powdered graphite. If it's the old style locks you can adjust the swing arm a little and that will help. If it's the new slam door style locks try the graphite on the tongue of the lock also.

Ours were very difficult at first also. Over time they have become easier to operate.

Same here, sometimes only lock one to save time. We need to replace them!

We have to use the graphite, too much blowing dust around here to use WD 40.

Dupont Dry Wax Lube, get it @ Lowes.
Works great and leaves no oily residue to catch dust.
Try it and you will be hooked, just like the first
time you tried WD 40.
A lot cleaner than graphite, Dick.

The Dupont product is great for a lot of things where dry lube is desired.

On my 05 I've had to replace one Baggage Latch and have dry lubed the locks a few times.

WD-40 is not recommended for locks. Only powdered graphite should be used. Anything with an oily base collects dirt and grime and eventually the locks get gummy. Powdered graphite is recommended by locksmiths for all kinds of locks where a key is used.

Lock-ease liquid graphite is made for locks, it comes in a spray can. As others have posted avoid WD-40 as dust will stick to it.
