375 FLF many problems

2014 375 FLF Mountaineer (Front living room). So far Norcold 4 door refer failed, new coil, out of warranty about 6 months ago. Problem with thermostat wiring on AC units again no warranty, had service man inspect and change wiring to correct. Now last week water heater (Surban 10 gallon DSI) sprung a leak. Cracked tank and will not run on gas. Thankfully it will work on electric for a short time until unit can be replaced. My old Cedar Creek a 2003 only had a failed water heater in 12 years of ownership. Is this sounding somewhat normal for the Mountaineer.

We full time in Florida so not seeing cold weather to cause tank to crack.....

Thoughts appreciated. Wife really likes the unit but begaining to qwonder what next.

Cracked water heater not a common problem. Of all issues we have experienced over the years, a water heater failure was not one of them.I do flush regularly. Frig coil failure pretty common, last few years, particularly if installed in a slide-out. Already replaced one in our 2015 dometic frig. Proper heat venting and leveling critical. Wiring mistake sounds like a headspace problem with the installer. WH/Frig are vendor products common in all makes of RVs. I would not blame on your unit being a Mountaineer.

I agree. The water heater is unique and the frig is a common problem across all makes of RV's. It's what's driving many to the residential side. The wiring is a factory issue, but if you look at recall notices the others aren't doing very good on the assembly lines either.

Had thw suburban 12 gal water heater fail after two years in our montana. It started as a slow water leak in the round gas flame tube and finally leaked heavy at 3 years. Easy to replace. Water in florida is very hard, which also means it eats things if you don't flush water heater yearly and put in new anode rod.

OK, I'm in Florida. Bought the unit used and have not changed the rod or flushed the heater. As above noticed a slow leak and thought it was the safety valve but now see it n the burner tube. Guess this is something I need to do regulary after having the heater replaced. And yes refergerator is in the slide. Don't understand why that is part of the problem though as the slide is seldom moved. We are mostly stationary for the next year or so.

We have a 2014 331rlt and the cooling unit also failed on our norcold and had it replaced with an arctic cold and the only what i would say is a camper manufacturing issue is that a drain pipe from the washer was not glued at the factory and it leaked all over our bedroom other than that i would say our unit is good at least form now.

Slide is part of the problem because of heat venting. If not in a slide, heat vents straight up, and out through a vent on the roof itself. On a slide, heat does not go straight up and out thru the roof, it starts out going up, but then vents thru the top vent on the side of the trailer via 90 degree turn aided by fans and baffles. I added an AC fan at the bottom vent, pointed straight up, to help push the heat out.

OK, thanks for the explanation. Makes much sense. Knew it had fans and thought that was adequate. Easy enough to get a computer fan and add to the circuit. Guess that will be my next project.
