Thermastat

I could use some pointers on setting the thermostat. The instructions are not very user friendly. It is a Dometic dual zone comfort control. I would like to find out an easy way to program.

What exactly are you trying to do?

If you are wanting to program different temperatures at different times, you will have to follow the manual instructions. I have never messed with that, I just set each zone for whatever temperature I want and let it go at that after selecting either furnace or cool.

It is amazing what things are capable of if one resorts to that one reference source that goes against all "manly" intuitions, the manual! I used to read those works that I interpreted as fiction years ago, but in the course of growing older and wiser, that habit was quickly left behind, and all of those materials were crammed into a drawer somehwere!! Disclaimer: There is a heck of a lot of sarcasm embedded somewhere in this post, but I will leave the detective work to others!! Hee Hee!!

I spent a fair amount of time setting the T stat so it would change heat settings at various times. It does work. But it doesn't have a temporary override function unlike a home T stat. Should you want to change any time/temperature value you have to re-program the T stat. And that change remains until you change it again. I found it easier to just set the temp to what I want now. At night I drop the temp. I let the wife get up in the morning and let her jack the temp up. Once it is comfortable I will roll out of bed. It works for us.

It is cumbersome, but I have used the programing for day/night changes on the dual zone comfort control. It was a learning curve, and when the coach was brand new we kept waking up in the middle of the night with the Zone 2 AC blowing cold air while Zone 1 was heating the coach with the Furnace. We like to set the temperatures for the coach based on how we feel warm/cold at any given time. Here is how we live with the system: We select Zone 1, then change function to AC, then set temperature. Then select Zone 2 and repeat. For the Furnace we select Zone 1, then select Furnace, then set temp. Then select Zone 2 and turn the Function to Off as there is only one furnace and it is controlled by Zone 1 settings. Not that it matters, but we like to heat the coach to about 73 degrees and when cooling we set both Zones to about 76 degrees. As I digress, when we have already paid for the electricity in the nightly rental fee we heat with fireplace and/or small ceramic heaters and set the Furnace to a lower temperature as a back up.
