Broke my toilet fresh water inlet valve. Replace valve? Replace Toilet?
I managed to break the valve of my RV toilet. I think I know how it happened, but basically the valve split and water sprays out of it. I've plugged the supply line with a 1/2" PVC plug.
Is this valve user-replaceable? Or do I need to buy a whole new toilet?
I assume this is a valve or a Y-fitting. Water is supplied to the bottom fitting, when the foot pedal is pushed then water goes up to the hose attached to the top fiitting that shoots water out the jets in the bowl.
It looks like there's some kind of barb or catch on the top and bottom of the housing of the toilet for the valve. The valve feels like it pops out and can be replaced, but I don't know.
The toilet is a Dometic SC 310
Thanks

So, I was talking with the RV campers in the site next to mine, mentioned my toilet valve problem.
He said, "I did that too! It's a cheap and easy fix. $15 part."
I remarked, "No kidding! You broke yours too?!"
He said, "Lemme guess. You winterized with air, didn't you?"
Me, "Yep. How'd you guess."
Him, "So did I. I forgot to push the toilet lever down when I winterized with air. The water froze in the valve. Cracked it."
Me, "I thought it was the pinch clamp that failed. I put on a hose clamp and it still sprayed water."
Him, "I thought the same. I did the same thing!"
Me, "So, it looks like you just pop it out with the two upper and lower clips/hooks."
Him, "Yep. There's a screw or 2 also. 15 minute job. Really easy. $15 bucks. And the replacement kit comes with hose clamps and screws."
For anyone else that's done this, here's the part:
WATER VALVE KIT OE PART NUMBER 385311641
I'm going to order 2 or 3 of these to have on hand.

Nice tidbit of information, even if it was from your mishap. Good to hear it's an easy fix.

I bought (2) replacement compatible valves off eBay, about $14 each, figuring I should have a backup.
The button on the new valve is leaking terribly when the button to allow water to flow is pushed. I tried the second new valve I purchased as a backup, same problem. If the foot pedal is not pushed, the valve remains closed and doesn't leak. But when you push on the foot pedal it pushes the button on the valve to allow water to flow and then water leaks out of the button at a pretty fast rate.
Is this a matter of "don't buy a cheap compatible valve on eBay" when I should just buy the Dometic OEM replacement part (costs 3 times more)?
Or am I missing something else, something with seals inside the valve, etc? I'm surprised that both valves had leaking buttons. I'm fine with buying a Dometic OEM part, but just want to make sure I'm not missing something.
I've attached a photo with the valve removed from the toilet foot pedal housing. I tested this by pushing on the button with my hand, and water leaked out of the button sure enough.

I would try to return them for credit and then purchase the Dometic part. This price, even though from CW, isn't too bad and is supposed to be a genuine Dometic part. https://www.campingworld.com/water-v...FbMYrQYdevwGhQ
