Best RV Battery

GOt a top of the line marine battery from the new Batteries Plus, cost $304 (having problems after 2 days, might be converter). However the NAPA Gel top I used before is only $197! SO what batteries do the rest of you use?

It depends what you own. A motor home, 5th wheel or camper trailer.

There are only 3 or 4 battery manufacturers in the US. They are almost all private labeled. Google who makes car batterys then chose one that fits your needs. If you study it you will find there are a lot of identical batterys with different labels on them.

Have always had trailers or fifth wheels. Don’t dry camp anymore. One 12v battery works fine for us, one is all we have ever used. I have had good luck with Interstate, boat and truck, paid +- $130 for the one currently in the rig.

Two Costco GC2 6 volt batteries in fifth wheel are cost effective, two are less than many 12 volt RV batteries.. the GC2 will outlast just about out last all flooded cell 12 batteries due to much larger plate surface ....

Batteries vary in build quality and specs but the biggest thing that determines battery life is how well they are taken care of and how they are used.

There is a saying... batteries do not die, they are murdered.

I've alway used AGM because I don't want another job (checking and filling the water) and have had both 12v and 6v. The question is getting interesting now, however, since lithium batteries are coming on the scene.

We never dry camp. When my first one died I just took it to NAPA and said give me your equivalent. Been a number of years but I think around $125. Only those two batteries in 12 yrs. About time to replace the second although it still works fine.

The dealer had installed Interstate batteries which did the job in the beginning, but after a few complete discharges while CW was doing work, they did not hold a charge well. I have the residential fridge, so I just installed 4 of the 6 volt VMAX agm batteries. Cost a little more, but they weigh 75 lbs each due to the thicker plates, and I do not have to be concerned about the water anymore.

We have been using Interstate Deep Cycle batteries for the past 10 years (+/-) Pull them in the winter and keep inside, charge up in the spring and use it all season. Work for us.

I use the Walmart brand marine/RV deep cycle at $89.99 with a 2 year warranty. My 1999 Jayco TT has them for 8 years. My 2016 Jayco TT still has them. My NEW 2019 3700LK came with a road warrior or something like that, died in 5 month. The Montana now has a Walmart battery also,. I have has good luck with interstate.

I just bought a NAPA @$107+tax (DEKA made or maybe EXIDE) after stopping at Walmart and having a clerk tell me that they don't sell a Gr 27 or 29 Marine/RV battery and that the car/truck Gr 27 was the only one they had ever sold for marine use. Oh well, ya can't buy stupidity. I had a dead one of their Gr29's in the back of my truck, purchased at that store and have another clunker in our 5er.

Would I like an AGM? Yes, but cannot justify a 2X or more added cost figure when a standard lead acid version will usually last 3-5 years. A lithium - would be way more and the converter(WFCO WF-9875) will not support that chemistry nor the gel cell

I have two Duracell size 27 12V batteries. Got from Sam's club for around $82 each. So far, so good. I went with them because that's how the PO had it set up, so batteries boxes were for 27's. I know that going to two 6v golf cart batteries gives longer amp hours, but like I said, I didn't want to have to change everything over or spend the extra $$ for two 6 v batteries at this point.

It’s almost impossible to know who made an automotive battery. Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Autozone, Advance, Napa, Amazon and all the rest sell batterys but none make batterys. There are only 3 or 4 manufacturers that make batterys. All the manufacturers sell the batterys they make to several retailers. There will be several retailers that sell the exact same battery. And to further complicate things retailers change manufacturers from time to time and some retailers sell batterys from two manufacturers.

I've had good luck with Interstate and Centennial. I like the Centennial best because they are true maintenance free batteries.

My 3701 LK came with two continental they would not last overnight. My opinion I think Trojan T-105 are your best bang for your buck, about $130 each I installed 4 Trojan 6v T-105, and the automatic watering system, and 4 200+ watt solar panels.
