Heading Back to Kansas from New Hampshire

After 12 years of working in New Hampshire, we are heading back to Kansas and are relocating to Topeka. We wish the timing was a little different to get to go to Goshen, but just not going to happen at least this year as we are heading back this week with the Montana.

Hey DQDick and Ozz, you're getting a new neighbor!!

Looking forward to it. We have a great COE lake here at Council Grove and we have our RV home base at Wilsey with full hookups for two RV's. We're leaving for Indiana on Tuesday. If you see a Monty pulled by a brown Dodge going the other way it's probably us. Look forward to meeting you at some point. Safe travels and welcome to the neighborhood.

We made it to Topeka KS and are currently in Deer Creek Valley RV Park. See a couple of other Monties here, so will check them out for MOC members.

You must have gone right by us. We are at the KOA in Salina until next week. Then on to Kansas City for my son's wedding and the day after we are headed for Goshen! Welcome!

Came through and stayed just outside of Goshen (in Elkhart) and Topeka (Prairie Band of Indians Casino) on our Monte's 1st Big Adventure from June 24 to August 23. So we can proudly say, "Been there, done that."

We were in site 13 at Deer Creek Valley when you were there. We were in the 3400RL on the east end of the row, two rows north of the shower/laundry building, white Dodge 3500 behind it and green Focus wagon in front. We're no longer there and we're really sorry we missed the opportunity to meet you.

Hillbillies? Doesn't there have to be hills to have hillbillies? I don't recall any hills in Kansas - last time through there was early October and no hills had grown, yet. Flatbillies, maybe, but not hillbillies. This city boy just doesn't know about these things.

A common mistake made by those who travel the interstates. Kansas is very hilly and wooded in the East particularly south east. Rolling hills of native grass account for the middle of Kansas called the Flint Hills (cattle raising country). The very south west looks like Utah or Nevada and across the state there are more lakes per square mile that Minnesota. Since I-70 was the first interstate constructed it took a flat route across the state to save time and money. I-35 was done in a similar fashion.

Have to agree with Dick on this one. Eastern Kansas has lots of hills. No real mountains but some pretty good hills, really noticeable when towing.

Actually, after traveling this country for over 10 years we could name quite a few states flatter overall than Kansas!
