Gen. Security
3791RD. I will be purchasing a champion generator and want to put it in my bed behind the 5th wheel. This is were I'm leaving it even when it is running. Any suggestions on to secure it to the truck bed?

Eye bolts and chain, heavy U-Bolts as Frame straps couple of ways. Would not want to expose my generator to the elements like that however.

I just use a bicycle locking thing and lock it to the bed hooks in the truck. I made a cover to keep the rain off it while driving.

I use a 1/2" cable and a very large hardened lock, but if they really want it they'll still get it.

Although I have an older ruck, my Kipor sits higher than the bed rails by a couple of inches so I can't put it behind the hitch fearing some unplanned drop off might cause it to get crunched. Like DQDick says ... you can slow em down, but given enough time, they'll grab it.

Our generator has been sitting in the back of our truck since 2006 and over 100K miles. It is still there. It is strapped in nothing else.

Only ~50k miles, but the same thing. Us a cable & padlock to the bed's tie down near the bottom corner. It's long enough that I can pull the gen. out a bit to run it. By the by, I now unhook and pull forward about ten feet so it's NOT under the trailer's overhang. Even with the windows closed, we had the CO2 alarm go off after several hours of running while hooked up. Won't do that again. (A 30 amp 25' extension cord from Wallmart is like $80 and does the trick.)

Just think, if someone wants it bad enough they might take the entire truck!

Assuming the generator sits below the bed rim you might consider ordering a BakFlip F1 cover from etrailer.com. I have had them on my last two trucks and the beauty is that you can fold them back enough to not interfere with your fifth wheel hitch and trailer. They are strong (rated at holding up to 400 lbs.) and easy to install. Very secure when leaving stuff in your truck bed while allowing you to fold it us to have full use of the bed when needed.

I bought a plastic tub from Wallyworld. I through away the lid and turned the tub upside down and it slid right over my 3500 Predator. I also have a cable and padlock.
