offers we couldn't refuse

Bill is retiring after 31yrs, fisher body, hydramatic, saginaw, american axle, UAW staff. I'm just plain takin' the buy out 10yrs. AAM.

So we made a quick decision (after talking about it for a few years) to head to Alaska for a 2 months or longer trip. Our Kids are excited for us and have offered to take care of the house yard etc. We've taken the rig to Mor/Ryde for upgrates and the truck to the dealer for general maintaince.

Thanks to this forum I think we'll be ready. From Generator tips, thanks Rich and Bingo, we now have the Kipor. To reading other tips on tires for the rig, glad we don't have the dreaded Missions, to the new Michelins I'm putting on the Chevy.

We've also applied for and have received our pass ports, signed papers from the vet for the dog and our extra meds. A Good Sam's card has also been added to my wallet.

We are traveling with 2 other couples, 1 has a motor home with a toad and the other a smaller fifthwheel. We have no reservations so we are playing it by ear as far a where and when. I bought a new lap top so will be able to keep in touch with family and friends, plus take care of finances while on the road.

Thanks for listening, just had to tell our news. Gotta go now and help Bill find his spotting scope, mosquito gear, etc. Stacy

That is a "Great Adventure" We also travel with no reservations and will divert anywhere at any time.. Remember on the Kipor that when you are finished running it turn off the fuel switch and let it run dry.. Do not transport with fuel in the carburetor as for some reason it will make it very hard to start the next time.Check the battery every month, I run mine every month for 1/2 hour as routine maint.. We would love to be with you guys.. Enjoy. BTW..retirement will be the best job you ever had...

Thanks for another great "tip" on using the generator. I've been a MOC member for years, I'm a great "listener" and seldom respond I love this forum. If I didn't check everyday I wouldn't of known about my frig being recalled, or my intermediate steering shaft (had replaced last week) problem. Thanks again. P.S. now that we have no work committments we're going to try and Make it to the Fall Rally. We only live 1/2 -45mins. away. Stacy

Happy RVing.....be safe. Remember, you are in charge of the clock. Retirement is total discretionary time.

youi may want to hold off on getting new tires for the truck. we have friends that have been there 3 times and group they went with always told them not to have new tires. they would have 1/2 worn out. that way the stones didn't stick in the tires. there maybe someone on here that has been ther could shed more light on this. jim

We'll be praying for your safety, enjoy. I heard someone, somewhere, once say that "You know that you are retired when you get up in the morning and have nothing to do; but when you go to bed at night, you haven't got half of it done."

Since I retired last year, sometimes I don't do anything until noon and then I do it twice!

May God keep you safe in all your travels, and may they be uneventful except for pleasurable moments.

Keep us updated as to where you are. We like hearing about others good travels.
