Front cap mirror survey

I would like to get a survey going on do you use the mirror on the front end cap to hook or unhook? or any other thoughts/comments about it.

I'll go first, I do not like the mirror upfront. I think it makes the Montana and new Big Sky look cheap.

I do use it to hook up.We have the fold-A-Cover and the Mor-ryde hitch pin both of which render the mirror useless..However with the aid of some school bus yellow tape on either side of the truck hitch we can with the mirror back it right over the pin and hook by myself if necessary which we never do. However Either Helen or I can, using the mirror and yellow tape..back it right over the hitch. So since it is of great help to us we have no comment on how it looks.

I have never used mine, I just look in the rear view mirror. I don't necessarily feel that it cheapens the look, perhaps it gives the Monty more character, no other 5er has that feature. A good conversation starter.

Montana Sky ... I'm with you ... I don't care for the mirror at all. I have a flush mount tool box in my bed and can see clear to the yellow strip on the road behind me! Ha! I understand the usefulness to some, but wish it were an option instead of a standard.

Don't use it, am neutral on the like/dislike (don't care one way or the other), I can see the pin and hitch when I turn around while backing.

The only use I have found for that mirror is when unhooked and driving up to the trailer to park, I can see how close to the hitch I am getting with my plastic grill without hitting it.

Wait, one other use - I can check to see how big a gash I have on my head from ramming into the bedroom slide after dumping tanks. Just a few more gashes and I should eventually remember to duck.

That slide is a headbanger I have the mark to prove it.

I don't use it because I can see my hitch. Otherwise I would use it.

I like it. I like the looks of it. It's also a good conversation starter. I've had several people approach me when I'm outside and ask what that is for. Others know what it is and just ask if I like it / use it. All have said they think it is a good idea and wish their brand would do the same thing. Some may just be too nice to say otherwise, though.

I do wish it were actually a camouflaged door into a small storage area. Maybe for water hoses.

By the way, at a dealer's we saw another Keystone product (Cougar) with a similar mirror. It also had some funky lights next to the mirror. I'm not sure what they were for. This picture is from the Cougar brochure.

I don't mind the looks of it on the Monty. As far as use, I can't see that well through it. Not sure if it's a new change or they are all this way, but ours is convex. It makes things too small for me to tell what it is.

I don't use it for hooking. But I am neutral, neither like or dislike. Doesn't make any difference to me. I would like to see a hinged door there for storing small stuff.

I'm with BillyRay,

I like the looks of the older Montana Caps better.

I've had a few folks come up to me and ask about it...they thought it was neat...but I told them I have never used it and most likely will never use it. I just look through my rear mirrow. I have used it put my make-up on

I use it for backing up to the hitch or parking the TV. I don't think it looks bad. It is also a conversation starter.

As for the front cap, I don't mind the looks of it. I really like the fact that with the new design, it lessens the chance of the Monte hitting the TV.

I use mine all the time and love it I pack a honda gen behind the cab of the TV so it blocks my view but the mirror and the rear view mirror do the trick for me

I don't use the mirror on our 3475 but it is unique. I had a friend with a Teton who asked "What is that??" He thought it was a good idea.

When I first saw the mirror I thought it was a great idea and would be very useful. After getting my Montana and trying to use it I gave up and just turn around and look at the hitch when backing up. The reflection is too dark and with my eyesite it is hard to judge distance and position in it.

Looks good though and like others have said people ask about it and, as I did at first, think it is a great idea.

Gee, I guess I'm in the minority. I like the new nose and since we have a shortbed I especially like the cutbacks. But to each his own...

As I mentioned before, I can see our hitch and don't need to use it. I did try it once and found it would be useful to align the hitch with the pin, horizontally. It probably wouldn't be of uch other use to me though.

I, too, would like to see it hinged with storage behind it.
