lippert frame on montanas

Greetings I am a new member and I could use some info on how to tell if I have a lippert frame on my trailer (2010 3615RE), my friends were coming from AZ and their 07 34 ft mountaineer had some welds fail on the frame, they had to leave it about 100 miles from home.

I do believe all Montana frames come from Lippert.

your frame is lippert, is there a question about your trailer and the frame?

the major issue about the frame is the front end breaking welds....lots of money in repairs, if you can even find someone to do it.
if your caulking on your side walls where the front meet the sides is not pulling apart/moving when putting on and off trailer then you have a good front end.

Thanks for the heads up mazboy, my rig is covered in a lot so I have not looked it over, however when I covered it I gave it a good look and there was nothing obvious. my friends just had their problem 2 days ago.

Lippert makes a lot of frames for several manufacturers. I think the % of failed welds is small in relation to the number of Lippert frames...unless it is your frame.

We had a frame failure last year, welds failed and that caused a major structural component break completely in two. We also had numerous cracks in the frame where the pin box bolts to the frame. We were extremely fortunate to locate a mobile RV repair guy who is also a welder, and after the better part of the day, had us put back together. I don't think it is so much the frame being too weak, but more due to the roads we are traveling on that tears up our rigs. Sure, they can build these frames a lot stronger, but every bit of extra steel they weld to these frames is that much more weight we have to pull down the road. Our rig had almost 40,000 miles on it when it failed, but is still good after those repairs were made last year.

Montana uses only lippert as do most other manufacturers. We have had Montana units (4) since 2002. No issues

That's exactly what I tell the guys in the shop. If we make let's say a thousand of a particular product with one bad one in the lot that is 1/10 of one percent but it is 100% to the person that gets it.

Only a few high end manufacturers build their frames, most use LCI

We invested lot of $$ in a attempt to ease the stress on the front of the Montana
Morryde IS suspension and the bedsaver BD 3 hitch. That is over 3K $$.We do put a lot of miles on the RV and there are a lot bad roads in the USA.
