Hot water asked in a different way?
The water in the Jayco was so hot I had to use gloves for the dishes. Not that hot in the new Montana? Is this normal? Hot but not THAT hot?

Ours runs hot, but not so much so that people would need gloves You certainly need to temper it with cold when showering though.

Lynnette-- I'm with BB_TX on our hot water. By chance are you running the water heater on both electric and propane? That will definitely make the water hotter!
OOPS!!! Misread your post and your water is not hot enough for you!
You could have a bad heating element if you are running it on electric only. Try shutting it down on electric and running it on propane and see if that makes a difference. IF it does, you may need a new heating element. Also do as I said above before I correctly read the post, and run your water heater on both electric and propane to see if that helps any!

I think you are mistaken. Running on both will heat it faster, but not hotter. Each will still shut off when their thermostat is satisfied.

We have an Atwood water heater and it has an adjustment for how hot you want it. Our's is set to the wear gloves setting. From another post on here lately it seems Suburban doesn't have a similar adjustment.

If one assumes that the thermostats for electric and gas operation will always be the same from unit to unit and over time...then operating both at the same time will only make the recovery period quicker. But this is not always true as these are not tight tolerance devices. My thermostat for gas shuts off much later than the electric tstat and the water is wayyyyy hotter. And if the tstats are not tight to the metal tank, they operate slower. As well, calcium does build up on the 1440 watt electric element which will mean less effective heating of water on electric...depends on water hardness. John

When the tstat on my suburban water heater went out I discovered you can buy replacements through amazon with different shut off temperatures.
We used one like this that raised the shut off temp. to 150* from the factory temp of either 120* or 130*. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C5T5ZSG/...I3U4Q4R2GTZECP

Good find! I'll keep that in mind for ours when (if?) it bites the dust.
