Leveling jacks at storage

When you put your Maontana in storage, not for winter but say for a month, do you use the leveling jacks?

I will be new to a Montana this Friday but.....just considering your question.....what else would hold up the front end of the camper? Is there a manual way to lower just the frong pads only? If so I would probably just do that.

Great question! I wouldn't have even considered that until putting it in storage for the first time.

For a month I do not worry about them, hydralics will hold well is't just oil pressure held in a seal an valve, for the winter or 6 months I block it up just behind the front jacks under the frame,iI also take half the pressure off the tires.John R.

For storage, in most cases, you will lower the front jacks only manually. As a full-timer, I am sitting in florida for 6 months or longer sitting with all jacks down. Not to worry... john

I have done it both ways, all down or just front down. The only thing that I make sure either way is that before retracting, I follow the manufacturers recommendation of wiping them down with a silicon lube. I guess time will tell.

We do front jacks only in storage, per dealer recommendation.

We generally have our jacks down and are living in the rig for 5-6 months at a time. Like Bingo we wipe them down with dry silicone lube before we retract them. Several years of that with no problem.

I'm not sure why the change, and the last time I looked, it still says use silicone spray in their owner's manual, but at the rally in Goshen last year, the Lippert people said they now recommend CRC Power Lube Industrial High Performance Lubricant with PTFE. They even brought a case of the stuff to give away. The spray isn't cheap, and don't know if it is any better, but I bought a couple cans at Fastenal. The only thing I can think is it may stay longer on the exposed ram.

WD-40 makes a dry lube with PFTE, might it do the trick?

Ours have been down for 6 months here on our Florida lot .When in storage it is suggested that you use the front jacks only in case the Rv has to be moved by the storage facility.
