trip to bc from ontario

Planning a trip to bc this summer. Going to Whistler. Are the roads better (terrain wise...grading and slope) going in from banff/Jasper or am I better to go in from the south end of the province through Vancouver. What parks/private campgrounds do you recommend on the way there and in Whistler area? Thaks in advance for your replies.

If you can find you way as far north as Edmonton, I strongly recommend highway 16 thru Jasper then Highway 5 via Valemont to Kamloops to Hope then you're home free to Whistler. The alternate is highway 1 from Calgary via Canmore and Golden but the road is very busy; 2 lane a lot of the way, hilly and stressful. The Jasper route is some of the most scenic driving you'll ever experience and is a pleasure to drive ... especially with a trailer following you. The route makes extensive use of valleys so any elevation change is gentle. It's two lane much of the way as well but with the much lighter traffic load, it doesn't become a problem.

thank you for your response. any experience with hwy 97 and 99 from Kamloops to Whistler? less congestion than the south route to Vancouver? Any recommendations on places to camp at Whistler? Ideally want power and sewer hookup. Any advice appreciated.

The ONLY trailer friendly route from Kamloops to Whistler is route 5 (Coquihalla Highway) to Hope and then Highway 1 to Highway 99. 99 was upgraded for the recent winter Olympics and is good. No issues.
try Riverside RV Resort & Campground for a suitable place to park. I don't think Highway 97 enters into the route suggested. PM me if I can be of any further assistance.
